As I reported a while ago in my post "Image returned in API is not the
same as image on the page", the API is not returning the images seen
on the GetGlue page for the item. I never got any response to that.

Now I am seeing that several of the images I am getting back from the
API calls are either no longer there or are restricted to users who
have logged in on the site where the image is located. It would be
better if the API
returned the same image you have on the GetGlue web page for that
item, instead of some 3rd party URL.

Hey Kyle,

I apologize for the confusion, the response that comes back from the API can be a bit misleading. The image attribute there is the original image that was captured for that object. As you found out, these are not always available. Instead you can use our hosted images, that can be looked up by objectId, ex:

Currently the available sizes are tiny, small, and normal (in order from smallest to largest). We have plans to add more sizes (and better standardize the current sizes) in the future.

Thanks, that was an easy fix to my app (and also much faster since no
API calls needed).
