welcome back everyone!
The local LGBTQ group is asking GLSSN's help in getting a big enough venue for the SF Gay Men's Choir (I have attended a concert of their's in the Castro many years ago and it was GREAT!) They would like to book the Dore Theater for Saturday April 9, 2011. I have verified that it is available and have asked that it be reserved for the time being.
The way this works with the choir (they play all over the state) is that there is a cost to attend and the proceeds are split 50/50, with 50% going to PFLAG. The other 50% is given to the LGBTQ group here and they then would split THAT with GLSSN. Last year, the amount raised for the local LGBTQ group was $468, so GLSSN would get half of that. Not a princely sum at all. But this is a chance to showcase some VERY talented singers and affiliate CSUB and GLSSN with a first-class performance. And I think it would be a cool affiliation in a county which voted 75% FOR Prop. 8.....
Your thoughts, please? It is all tentative and dependent on your wishes as a club.
And on that note, please schedule a meeting for the first week of class. The club needs to be chartered to get $$ from ASi and may want to participate in Club Fair Day again.....

I think this is a great idea. I won't be around after this quarter, but I've heard nothing but good things about the SF Gay Men's Choir.
