to Glowscript Users

Hello folks,

We’re planning on migrating from glowscript.org to webvpython.org over the course of the next several months. The updated site will be largely similar to the current site (same database, old programs will continue to work unchanged, user interface mostly unchanged). However, there will be some changes.

  • The standard editor will be replaced with Monaco. This is the same editor code used in VSCode

  • If you’re using version 3.2 or higher there is a new option to select pyodide rather than rapydscript as the interpreter. To select pyodide, simply add “WASM” to the version string at the top of your program:

    Web VPython 3.2 WASM

If you’d like to test the new editor, or the new pyodide interpreter, you can do so now at:

https://beta.webvpython.org

Please report any issues withe the editor to:

https://github.com/vpython/flaskHost/issues

Issues with pyodide go here:

https://github.com/vpython/wmWVPRunner/issues

The URL https://glowscript.org/ will redirect to https://webvpython.org while preserving the full path, so any links you have should still work after the migration.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks!
-steve
