Dear Glossword Users.

I worked on the project 7 years. I can't continue work anymore.
Because I don't have money even for hosting (100 USD).

I could continue, but I don't have any funds.

If nobody interested in the project development, I'm leaving.

Thanks to all.

Дорогие пользователи Glossword.

Let us start discuss financing. I think I can be a resource.

Oh I hate to see you go. I think this project has a lot of potential.
If hosting is a problem, I may be able to help. If the bandwidth needs
aren't too high I could host the main site on one of my reseller
accounts for you. If you want to continue.

Hi Dmitry

I'm sure other users like myself that have contributed monetarily in the
past would not mind donating a little more if it would mean you can
continue your work. I have been using GW since version 1.6 and have
nothing but praises. I think the quality of your work, and the attention
to detail has been great. You have been very helpful when I contacted
you. Please reconsider, I'm sure many other guys can see the value on GW.

Best regards,

Daniel

Dimitry,
I can offer you hosting - completely free - now and for as long as you manage the project.
No conditions - no traffic limits, free. Top class data center in Amsterdam.
Don't give up!

Please, Dmitry, reconsider your decission. You can get free hosting
from several companies in Europe and domains at low price too.
And many of us are willing to help with development, beta testing and
translations. No doubt.

Thank you all for kind words.

> You can get free hosting from several companies

The problem is not only in hosting.
There are more regular fees I need to do - Internet access, apartment
rent.

I can earn 1500-2000 USD as PHP-programmer by working in Moscow.
In this case, Glossword development is not possible.

If I could have at least 1000 USD from other sources,
I would work for Glossword full-time.

> Let us start discuss financing. I think I can be a resource.

Soon, I'm going to publish details of new Glossword.

Feel free to email me. I understand your dilemma, but I also
understand that you have not checked all options.

Dear Glossword Users,

I'm searching for funds to continue the development of Glossword.

I need 10 people, who can affort to spend 100 USD per month.
Or 100 people, who could spend 10 USD per month.
Or just one person or organization, which can be a sponsor and invest
1000 USD per month into Glossword development.

Here are some thoughts:

- Glossword will be API-based web-application. It allows to divine
Glossword into two independed parts

1) the module for a specific CMS
2) the core, common for all modules.

With this, Glossword could work as module for Joomla, Wordpress,
Drupal and other CMS or forums.

For the first time, Joomla will be the first CMS (I'm familar with
Joomla very well, as well as with Wordpress).

- Glossword needs new site with the following list of sections:

1) Blog (it could be glossword.blogspot.com for the first time)
2) Downloads (I'm going to use Google.code for a while or as a mirror
server)
3) Knowledge Base (my own)
4) Bug Tracker (Google.code for the first time, but it urgently needs
a replacement)
5) Translations manager (my own)
6) Forum (Google Groups for the first time)

- New Glossword website will allow to provide high-quality support.

- There are will be two Glossword versions - freeware and commercial.
All features for a commercial version will be included into the core
to avoid doing changes in modules.

- Glossword project needs a commercial parner who can manage the
commercial division (I don't have accounts at Paypal, Checkout).

Rough road-map:

May, 2009: Module for Joomla with basic functions.
June-July, 2009: New website.
August, 2009: Module for Wordpress with basic functions. Major updates
for Joomla module.
September, 2009: Enchancing Glossword API, releasing a commercial
version.
October-November, 2009: Enchancing Glossword API for commercial
version.
December, 2009: Module for Drupal. Major updates for Wordpress and
Joomla modules.

Running my Rare Cancer group takes up a lot of my funds, but I will
try to send some funds your way. If you had an easier way for
Americans to donate, I think that would help a lot on that issue.

Don't know who you are paying for your hosting now, but ASO has pretty
cheap hosting, and they are about as stable as any other hosting
company (I will not say they are perfect) - http://asmallorange.com/hosting/

I was thinking that if you had a larger server, you might be able to
sell the 'service' of glossword, instead of the package:
1. It took me three days to work through the code and setup. You
could set someone up in probably an hour and give them a fast routine
to enter their words, based on their needs. (charge for this)
2. Offer a 'hosting' product for people to house their glossaries,
give them simplified input routine and a subdomain name of their own.
Cheap hosting, with good backups, will be important here.
3. There are services, other than PayPal, available out there. In
fact, a LOT of them. Some charge higher fees, but then you will need
to include that in your fee.
4. You have a good feel for this package. Custom mods would be the
easiest way to make some bucks. If you are integrating it into other
packages, as a separate module, you KNOW you will get asked for your
services.

Yes, I know that this takes away from your development work, but
actually, by making mods and setting it up for others, you will see
what 'loops' or code need to be added. It will actually help you ,
not hinder you.

Just my thoughts.....

Take Care, Sharon

My provider will disconnect me from the Internet tomorrow because of
non-payment.
It means I will be not available online anymore.

Dmitry, I guess you could receive money through Western Union. Is that
right?
If so, can you give us more details?
