How to Filter Website?

I edited the /etc/hosts file and added
127.0.0.2 metacafe.com
127.0.0.3 myspace.com
under the 127.0.0.1 localhost
And i also used the squid proxy, edited the configuration file /etc/
init.d/squid.conf.
But nothing worked for me.
help me on this issue.
