I didn't got what u wnat to acheive by editing the grub.Here is a way to make grub look better.

1) u can add wall paper in the grub, so u will not see the usual e as root

                  /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme

change the  wallpaper section as ( dont forget to copy the file to mentioned location , only .png or .tga files )

  else
  WALLPAPER="/usr/share/images/desktop-base/ubuntu-girl.png"
  COLOR_NORMAL="black/black"
  COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="magenta/black"

2) run following themes to install various themes

     sudo apt-get autoremove plymouth-theme-*

ok, dont try to change it much, one of my friend tried to play with "system bus" and he had to reinstall full sequel again..

Hi,

How do i add custom entries to grub2 ?

I have tried this :
1) Placed the vmlinuz, initrd, rootfs.gz under root, in a folder which i created.
2) /etc/grub.d/40_custom
   Added the entries.
3) update-grub

Result: The entries don't get added up. Hence, not shown on grub.

1) Moved the files to /boot
2) Edited the entries in 40_custom .
3) update-grub

Result: update-grub 'sees' them. Can be seen during boot. But it results in kernel panic stating "can't sync" .

Grub1 was easier --> Just adding few lines to menu.lst ......

Now,What should I do to make grub2 load my custom entries properly?

Gokulakrishna.
