About javaME apps. on Android

Can javaME applications run directly on android platform considering
that it has Dalvik VM and most android applications are themselves
written in Java ?

No. The applications need to be recompiled using Android SDK. Dalvik VM is not a java implementation. Android platform implements only a portion of java.* packages and so most likely most of native java app will not be trivial to port on android.
