First of all, intel and etheros wireless card holders will not face
any difficulty, only broadcom card is causing problems so;

1) run 'lspci' command in the terminal.

last 4 line will look like this below :

08:00.4 System peripheral: JMicron Technology Corp. xD Host Controller
09:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g
(rev 01)
0a:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/
RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02)

2) if u see the broadcom then take the cd from where u installed the
ubuntu 10.04/9.10/9.04

go to cdrom://pool/main/d/dkms install dkms package
then cdrom://pool/main/f/fakeroot install it
then cdrom://pool/main/p/patch , install the patch package
then at last cdrom://pool/restricted/b/bcmwl , install the bcmwl
package

follow the steps in this sequence only, see the terminal output for
the last package , it should say " succesful installation"

3) restart, the wireless should be working..

for those who found intel or etheros instead of broadcom in lspci
command, their card should be working fine after installing ubuntu .
