I know I have login entries using the same password, as I do not have a choice for them to be different. For example all Microsoft Online accounts (Skype, One Drive) or Amazon (Prime, Prime Now, Prime video) use the same credentials (password and OTP) and it is not possible, as far as I know, to do otherwise.
I'm not able to duplicate...I'm using the 80800094 beta and it shows reused passwords (even groups them by the password). Have you checked a non-beta version of 1Password, like the 1password.com site? The watchtower counts would be different, but it would help to troubleshoot and determine if the issue is the beta or something with your 1password account/database.
Sharing something else I noticed today regarding this issue. If I change the login.skype.com website to say pizza.com. The watchtower summary page increased the reused password count by 2, so it identifies them both as reused. Opening the individual entries however doesn't show at the top it is a reused password.
1Password 8 now maintains a list of domains that share login systems as you described. When you reuse a password across these domains, no warnings are generated because 1Password is aware that they are on the same system.
The Microsoft Authenticator app helps you sign in to your accounts when you're using two-step verification. Two-step verification helps you to use your accounts more securely because passwords can be forgotten, stolen, or compromised. Two-step verification uses a second step like your phone to make it harder for other people to break in to your account. You can use the Authenticator app in multiple ways:
Two-step verification: The standard verification method, where one of the factors is your password. After you sign in using your username and password, you can either approve a notification or enter a provided verification code.
With OAuth support, no App Password is needed to add the Yahoo account to Outlook Desktop. When you add the account, you use your regular password. It is also good practice to keep 2-Step Verification enabled to protect your account.
After you switch to the Office Beta Channel you can now add a Yahoo account without having to create an App Password. Follow the guidance to add an account and when prompted by Outlook for login and password enter your email address and your regular password, Add an email account to Outlook.
Microsoft believes that the future is passwordless. Passkeys are a simple and more secure replacement for passwords when you sign into a web site or application that supports them. Passkeys represent a future where bad actors will have a much harder time stealing and using your credentials when signing into a web site or application. Passkeys are phish-resistant, recoverable, and faster for users.
Starting in Windows 11, version 22H2, Enhanced Phishing Protection in Microsoft Defender SmartScreen helps protect Microsoft school or work passwords against phishing and unsafe usage on sites and apps. We are trying out a change starting with this build where users who have enabled warning options for Windows Security under App & browser control > Reputation-based protection > Phishing protection will see a UI warning on unsafe password copy and paste, just as they currently see when they type in their password.
Select your existing password manager from the headings below for the steps to export your passwords. If we don't currently support your existing password manager, select the steps to export using a comma-separated values (CSV) file.
If steps to import passwords from your password manager aren't listed in this article, you can create a CSV that you can use to import your passwords into Authenticator. Microsoft recommends that you follow these steps on a desktop for ease of formatting.
To verify the integrity of CSV data, ensure that the first row contains a header with three columns: URL, username, and password, and ensure that each row contains a value in the URL and password columns.
Skype made available a new beta version of the communication software for the Windows operating system today which introduces several new features in the Windows client. Facebook users who - for whatever reason - did not want to create a Skype account until now can now use their Facebook login instead. What this means is that all Facebook users can log into Skype directly with their login credentials without creating a Skype account first.
The features are currently available in Skype 5.11 for Windows Beta. Please note that the beta installer contains opt-out offers to make Bing the default search engine and MSN the default homepage in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
Lucky for me there are plenty of replacements that I cna use other than skype inc Magic jack for both Iphone and android and many other IM replacements.
Microsoft dropped the ball here and I am holding onto what I have for the moment after removing skype from my systems.
In addition to biometric authentication, Windows Hello supports authentication with a PIN. By default, Windows requires a PIN to consist of four digits, but can be configured to permit more complex PINs. However, a PIN is not a simpler password. While passwords are transmitted to domain controllers, PINs are not. They are tied to one device, and if compromised, only one device is affected. Backed by a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip, Windows uses PINs to create strong asymmetric key pairs. As such, the authentication token transmitted to the server is harder to crack. In addition, whereas weak passwords may be broken via rainbow tables, TPM causes the much-simpler Windows PINs to be resilient to brute-force attacks.[84]
Windows 10 also offers the Wi-Fi Sense feature originating from Windows Phone 8.1; users can optionally have their device automatically connect to suggested open hotspots, and share their home network's password with contacts (either via Skype, People, or Facebook) so they may automatically connect to the network on a Windows 10 device without needing to manually enter its password. Credentials are stored in an encrypted form on Microsoft servers and sent to the devices of the selected contacts. Passwords are not viewable by the guest user, and the guest user is not allowed to access other computers or devices on the network. Wi-Fi Sense is not usable on 802.1X-encrypted networks. Adding "_optout" at the end of the SSID will also block the corresponding network from being used for this feature.[120]
The Windows Insider Preview version of Windows 10 automatically updated itself to the generally released version as part of the version progression and continues to be updated to new beta builds, as it had throughout the testing process. Microsoft explicitly stated that Windows Insider was not a valid upgrade path for those running a version of Windows that is ineligible for the upgrade offer; although, if it was not installed with a license carried over from an in-place upgrade to 10 Insider Preview from Windows 7 or 8, the Insider Preview does remain activated as long as the user does not exit the Windows Insider program.[157][158]
The beta environment allows you to explore new features before they reach production. The beta environment is overwritten with data from the production environment every Saturday. Any work or content you add to your beta environment will be overwritten every week.
The beta environment is separate from the test environment, which is overwritten with data from the production environment every third Saturday of the month. The test environment allows you to test using your real data without ruining the experience for your users. Learn more about the different Canvas environments.
Users in the beta environment will see the Test Installation bar across the bottom of the screen indicating the user is in a Canvas Test Installation. Beta environments reset every Saturday and any content created in this environment will be deleted. If you want to save any course content created in your beta environment, you can export your course.
Some new features may be released as opt-in only and will not appear until you enable them in your beta environment. You can view these features in the Feature Options tab within Course Settings. Learn how to manage new features for an individual course.
Launching and using the Microsoft Edge browser on the Mac is the same as any other Mac app, as it installs into your /Applications folder. From some brief preliminary testing, despite being a developer beta build it seems to work fine and be stable enough for regular use.
Clearly, Microsoft wants people to take its beta exams seriously. The Register, however, can imagine naughty people signing up for a beta exam, spending a lazy fifteen minutes on nonsense answers and pocketing the 20 per cent discount for an exam they want and/or need to take. Microsoft could be left with data just as dirty as it has now.
And with this, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials finally gets interesting. Microsoft announced today that a beta version of the Office 365 Integration Module (OIM) for Windows SBS 2011 Essentials is finally available, proving integration between its new SMB-focused server offering and its market-leading cloud productivity service.
With recent updates to Edge, the app got support for roaming passwords and a dark theme option. While these features are not unique and can be found in plenty of other browsers, at least for Android, Edge can provide one unique feature. "Continue on PC", a feature which has common roots with Windows Timeline will allow opening the web page that you were reading on your smartphone, directly on your PC, tablet or laptop, or bookmark it for further reading.
To get access to the beta of DuckDuckGo for Mac, all you need to do is join the private waitlist. We're letting new people off the waitlist today, maybe even as you read this sentence, so the sooner you join, the sooner you'll get it. Please be patient with us though! We'll be inviting people in waves and improving the app as feedback comes in.
