Athenian Rhapsody's Steam page advertises it as a "a souls-like platonic dating simulator with cooking-mama and WarioWare style battle mechanics", though clarifies: "and by that I mean it's a choose-your-own-adventure action RPG with the ability to trade ENTIRE PLAYTHROUGHS between friends!"
The way I would describe Athenian Rhapsody is that it's Undertale, just in a concentrated form and slammed down your throat raw. Undertale, for all its strangeness, has a general patience to it. It permits you a moment of quietness at times. This is not a thing Athenian Rhapsody is interested in.
As my new mortal enemy Thunder Goober would say, this assumption is "FOOLISH!" Athenian Rhapsody's humour has a throughline to it. There were plenty of gags that got genuine laughs, like when one of my NPC companions gently asked the other to not mention the fact they'd committed tax fraud.
No, this game is internally consistent with its own logic. It's just that said logic comes from a nightmare dream realm where nothing quite lines up, and I am both a hotdog and not a hotdog. Now dodge this overhead.
also, this is specifically the humans that had fallen into the underground. the rgb scale allows for millions of colors, so i doubt that these are the only colors that exist. these are just the souls that came to the underground!
this human in particular likely used their ability to save as a part of that patience, which explains the little bit of perseverance that they have. patience takes some determination, especially with this human here! again, other patient souls may not have any determination, but this one did and probably used it, too.
both of these traits also involve trust, and patience can be considered a form of trust, since you are trusting a conflict to get resolved either by itself or through repeated actions over a period of time.
cmyk shows us that bravery has some perseverance and a whole lot of justice. this makes sense, because even though perseverance is linked with determination, it is as i mentioned before connected to time, and this soul clearly has no patience.
undyne turns you green, the color of kindness. it would make a lot of sense, maybe even more sense, to have her use yellow/justice powers, since that sort of seems to be her thing, but kindness works really well.
SpearOfLies, when you say that, that puts the idea in my mind that Alphys seems to be the reverse of justice until Undyne dies. She judges herself until she gains the courage to fight for what is right. Kind of like the persona series where a tarot card has a reverse side and a monster SOUL is the same principle where it has the reverse side of a human SOUL.
Hey guys it turns out Undertale has a NPE after all! Hah, only kidding of course. Undertale Yellow was an admittedly awesome prequel to Undertale that has writing that's on the same level as Undertale itself. For a while I kinda overlooked any NPE/PE potential any characters had due to the fact that most of them redeem and are anti-villains, and the one who is neither in this game (aside from this candidate obviously), Flowey, can't count since this is a fanmade prequel to Undertale, where he does redeem. But while that's 100% true for the monsters, the human that isn't Clover is not such a case.
Our work here is Undertale Yellow, a fanmade prequel to the game we all know in love known as Undertale. In it, you control the 6th human, Clover, in order to help them with their mission of finding missing humans. Like with Undertale, the story itself can vary drastically depending on your choices, as you can either be a pacifist, a neutral person who's just there to complete your mission, or a genocidal maniac who wants to get a twisted version of justice for the human souls. Interestingly, unlike most Undertale fangames, this game mostly relies off original characters, with Flowey being the only returning character to have a major role.
The unnamed Blue Soul human is an overarching antagonist. Before the events of the game, they had fallen into Mt. Ebbot for unknown reasons, and wished to escape past the barrier. However, while down there, they turn out to be a violent individual who tried killing Kanako Ketsukane and Dalv, though they manage to flee. Furthermore, there's heavy implications they killed other monsters, such as the fact they're generally described by monsters and Axis to be a violent individual in general, and the fact that their clothes were covered in dust (which is the remains of monsters). Them trying to kill Kanako and Dalv had major effects on the plot, as it leads to Dalv isolating himself in the Ruins due to feeling responsible for what happened, and Chujin to create Axis in order to kill them, and then experimented on the Soul, eventually causing his death after some failures and them rejecting his efforts, and later on leading to Kanako becoming an Amalgamate after Ceroba tried experimenting on her and sending them to a lab, an experience that led to Ceroba being sad and very desperate to save her.
Due to them being described by several monsters to be a very violent individual and them having dust (which is the remains of monsters) all over their clothes, it's heavily implied that they went on a murderous rampage throughout the Underground. Furthermore, this can't be dismissed as self defense, as they tried killing peaceful monsters who didn't try hurting them, such as Kanako and Dalv.
Their actions indirectly led to several conflicts in the plot, such as Dalv isolating himself in the Ruins, the Ketsukane family to be ruined, and the creation of Axis, who would try killing Clover repeatedly throughout the Steamworks.
While they do help Frisk against Omega Flowey in Undertale, it's unknown what their motives are, as while it could be due to them genuinely wanting to help Frisk, it could also just be them wanting to escape Omega Flowey and leave the Underground.
Them going on a killing spree against monsters is never outright confirmed, with the only time it's made 100% clear they tried killing monsters being when they tried killing Kanako and Dalv. However, since their actions do have a major effect on the plot and there is evidence to support this, such as their clothes being covered in dust in Undertale and them being described as violent on multiple occasions, this isn't off screen and is an overall rather minor prevention.
They don't have quite enough characterization, as all we know for sure about their personality and goals is that they want to escape to the surface, they have some form of integrity since that's what their soul represents, they're violent, and they hate the idea of being experimented on, with it being implied that the reason is due to spite towards Chujin for creating Axis to kill them.
Also I know on their page they have chaotic neutral and grey zone, but trust me in this game they're not ambiguously evil. The game makes it clear they were a twisted person who had basically nothing good about them, and in fact this game seems to fix a lot of the ambiguity they had in Undertale, like elaborating why their clothes were covered with dust in Undertale and in general giving them more lore and a bit of characterization.
Also, in case anyone is concerned about the heinous standard, most of the villains in this game don't go far beyond trying to kill Clover, and they don't have the resources to destroy humanity like Asgore or Undyne, or to destroy the world like Flowey since humans can't absorb human souls, so even if they made it to Asgore, beat him and took the human souls, they couldn't do much. Likewise, they're not ridiculously powerful like Chara, so they're not destroying the entire world with basic weapons.
Like the fight with Dalv, on a genocide route when he reaches low health, he is spare-able, but Dalv lived by running away whoever this soul was they WANTED to kill him, even when there was a "peaceful" solution.
Plus I think the note of dust on their clothes makes the genocidal intentions clear, the only other times dust is mentioned while referring to you (Clover/Frisk) is when you're doing genocide, this supports the idea they really were a monster, they likey were trying to do a genocide route when they died, and when you do a genocide route in UTY everyone evacuates, multiple NPCs make references to the blue souls rampage, so they were doing a brutal job at killing those who didn't escape.
...honestly? I say there's no heinousness/FH issues. Their items have dust on them, we know for a fact they tried to kill two monsters, and were described as "violent". It's pretty clear they went on a killing spree.
Soul is a skill tree. Each type of Soul will give different passives. When you level up you will get 2 soul points to upgrade. Currently in the game there are 4 types of souls: Determination, Bravery, Patience and Kindness. You can level up to LV 20(validatio) when you start the game it will randomly select a soul.
The "Patience" light blue soul is based around you not spending gold on buildings or towers becoming stronger as waves progress. On the right and the left are "Wait" skills and can be upgraded to "Keep Waiting" which does nothing. Unlocking both the right side and the left side "Keep Waiting" skills will allow you to buy "Temporary Discount" which reduces the cost of upgrading towers by -25% during the last wave. After buying the left "Keep Waiting" you can buy "Increment"(A)(B)(C) skills buying "Increment A" gives your towers +2% range each wave for a maximum of +10% at the last wave. Similarly "Increment B" increases damage by 2% each round (max +10%) and "Increment C" decreases CD by -2% each round (max -10%). After all 3 have been bought you can than buy "Increments 2"(A)(B) which do the exact same thing just with an extra 2% (max 20%) after buying increment C you can than buy "Patience Dust" which gives x5 more dust on last wave. On the right side of "Keep Waiting" is "Reward Boost" (1-5) which if you don't pickup any items you gain +5% exp/souls (max +25%). After purchasing "Reword Boost 4" you can than buy "Monsters Reserver" which gives x2 souls and xp if you only place special souls. Unlike most souls you can unlock your true soul right off the bat for 10 points "True Patience" will give you x2 G until you upgrade a tower. (This is for starting gold too.)
