Hadno response from Nvidia so hopefully someone here may be able to help.

I use Nvidia Geforce filters in my MSFS - colourfulness, colour

Etc etc.

But they disappear after graphics card update and need setting up again.

Cant find where they are stored to back them up ( Ansel folder is not it).

Does anyone know if they are stored in a MSFS file or anywhere else?

Thankyou for your assistance

Do you have the latest AMD device driver installed, It looks like AMD released an updated driver four days ago. Are you sure the rollback worked. What doe windows device manager show. My Nvidia driver is a year old it seems to work onle Oil filter reset fails with a programs error need to use dirty oil...

Hi JJ, yes the AMD driver is the new release and I have successfully rolled it back to no avail (I check windows TM) One thing I will note is on PS use openCL is not available and is greyed out. It was active last preferences check about 4 months ago.

when the sniffer fails to detect your gpu the default action will cause any gpu task to crash on Windows systems... the work around is to keep an older install like 2018 or 2017 and use one of these when you need to do a gpu task eg, rendor because older versions of the software have a different set of defaults

CC2019 is stable here. There are some bugs, as there are in all versions and some issues in 3D. There are also some issues between Photoshop and Mojave on Macs. But generally unstable...not here.

Callum - This looks like an issue that has crept into the AMD drivers. It occasionally happens as drivers get updated by AMD and NVidia for the games market.

I had a recent issue with Photoshop 3D and my NVidia drivers which was resolved only after removing the drivers completely and clean installing them. Just stepping back or forward with updates did not resolve the issue - a clean install of the driver did.

the two screengrabs are the same file on the same laptop running the same gpu driver a few monents apart... 2019 crashes at the get go and 2018 then stepped in to do an hour long rendor without a glitch & this repeatable on a lot of Windows systems not just with AMD cards

Hello JJMack. Sorry to barge in like this. I'm having the same problem but with a 2010 Mac Pro. Actually, it is 2009 4,1 with an upgraded Rom 5,1 with 32gig ram running at 1333 speed. It is a 6 core version. The problem is the graphics card. It has a GT120 with 512MB and for some reason, the latest Photoshop won't run some of its plugins. For instance, oil paint is greyed out, and when I check PS performance window it only shoes basic and the rest is also greyed out. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new graphic card only to find out it isn't compatible. I see many people online who use the Radeon HD5770 w/1024MB. Do you know if this card will solve my PS problem?

There is a complete background below (borne out of frustration) as to why I want to know this - but the basic question is how do I completely reset Xserver to the state it was in when I installed Ubuntu? I have searched over months for a way to do this and nothing has worked so far.

I (unfortunately) own a laptop with hybrid graphics (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M is the secondary GPU). This has given me no end of problems. I use Ubuntu Gnome, and have reinstalled it more times than I can count.

In the past I have tried to use the recommended Nvidia binary drivers package provided in Ubuntu. This does work initially, however, quite often a simple "apt-get upgrade" will break X and dump me at a black screen after boot. It is then almost impossible to recover as even purging all Nvidia packages and using ubuntu-drivers at the command line to change to nouveau (deleting the xorg.conf file too) doesn't seem to restore my graphics (even though that makes no sense... as surely that puts me back at the start?). I try all the available Nvidia packages (purging each time) but always end up at the black screen. I then reinstall Ubuntu Gnome and use the exact same Nvidia driver package, and it works!

More recently I tried to install Bumblebee as a possible end to my problems (i.e. as an alternative to using the Nvidia drivers for the entire X session). I reverted my main driver to nouveau (in the additional drivers app provided in ubuntu) and installed bumblebee following the standard Ubuntu guide. It didn't work with my card ("cannot access secondary gpu could not load gpu driver"), so I tried to upgrade the Nvidia drivers that Bumblebee uses (again following the instructions). This broke X. I purged Bumblebee and all related packages and reverted to nouveau.

As such, I want to know the most aggressive way I can simply reset Xserver and all associated packages each time this happense so I don't have to do a full reinstall. I want to know this for the future as it would be nice to at least be able to restore my system to a state where I can boot to a GUI and then try different options.

I have already seen this and this. The first is the most relevant, but doing that never works for me. Simply purging the Nvidia drivers doesn't seem to be enough. Something about Nvidia seems to linger (e.g. now when I have a magically reappearing Nvidia based xorg.conf file even though I have no nvidia packages installed).

best way to 'combat' this is to return the focus to the game real quick after about 30 seconds of alt tab, to ''refresh'' the timer prior crash then alt tab again and continue whatever alt tabbed action i was doing on my pc.

Afterwards a common occurance is launching the game resulting in 2 times or once of it freezing mid load of the game itself, requiring yet again crashing.

Once or twice like that, after the alt tab related crash, and then it returns to normal.

Afterwards, you might quite often experience a struggle to launch the game for the first 2 times, or once. After such alt tab related freeze.

You just start the game again, and as it starts with it loading, and blackscreen, same crash.

Just rinse and repeat once or twice then it will be all normal.

Hello alexsys.

Can you please provide a dxdiag file? Also, are you running any mods? Does this occur on the vanilla version of the game?

And does this problem persist upon doing the following?

Verify the game data through Steam and delete the configuration files when prompted to do so (make sure Steam cloud sync is disabled for DayZ before doing this) - you can also delete the config files manually by clearing the C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ folder

@alexsys mentioned they were playing fullscreen. I can confirm I get this issue in fullscreen, but can ALT-TAB for hours in Windowed mode without any issue. Would prefer to play in fullscreen though due to better performance, overall.

This issue, described in my report is ONLY occuring with Fullscreen DayZ with Nvidia Game Filters enabled.

As soon as that happens, alt tab from the game for longer than 5 minutes, and that results in this freeze that causes 2 bugged launched game instances following the freeze being forced to crash.

I use a filter of Sharpen, all normal and dandy, yet just the Filter feature being enabled, causes the game to flop in Alt tabbed mode for some reason, if kept out tabbed for too long.

Like it stops the backround rendering completly with Nvidia Filters turned on.

It's not that default dayz has an alt tab issue, but DayZ has an odd interaction with Nvidia Game filters that cause bugged tabbing out with filters enabled. Other than that the game runs alright with filters. :)

I'm currently having a problem with my system where the full 2560x1440 resolution of my Dell U2711 monitor isn't well supported by my ASUS G73S laptop (it has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX440M CUDA with 1.5GB RAM). The laptop doesn't have DVI-D or DisplayPort outputs and the monitor doesn't officially support that resolution over HDMI. So, to work around it I added a "Custom Resolution" in the nvidia control panel. This works until the computer sleeps or reboots, at which point it stops working and the display driver freaks out, refusing to display on either the internal or external display until I unplug the HDMI connector.

If I get the external monitor to show a lower resolution I can successfully "upgrade" the resolution - I just have to make sure the laptop first uses the default 1920x1080 resolution that is better supported. Then I can increase that afterwards. To do that I have plugged in the VGA connector to the monitor which seems to have changed Windows' idea of my monitor configuration enough that it resets things to defaults. However, I suspect that if I reboot my computer without downgrading the resolution first I'll be in trouble ... I don't have any more monitors to hook up to use this trick!

I'm hoping that I can find a way get the various system components that restore my prior screen resolution to forget those settings so that if I get in trouble I can unplug the external monitor, delete/forget all those remembered display settings, and plug it back in to get to the "defaults" of 1920x1080 on both displays.

I went to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers and deleted subkeys that had DELA in them. These are apparently the keys windows uses to decide what display settings to use when the display configuration changes. Deleting them caused windows to forget the settings and when I plugged the external monitor in it reverted back to mirroring both monitors at a lower resolution that worked.

I solved his issue by downloading teamviewer and then attaching my not working display to my laptop and then connected to my laptop using another pc or mobile device using teamviewer app. then went to screen res and changed it back to normal settings. NOTE, YOU MUST USE TEAMVIEWER, ANY OTHER REMOTE CONTROL APPLICATION ATTACHES ITSELF TO THE COMPUTER AS A DISPLAY.

If you're using Windows 7, an easier way may be to hit the Function + F5 (or F8 depending on manufacturer). If you try this with your external display DISCONNECTED you'll find that you can navigate the options that come up with the arrow keys.
