Hello All,
I’m supporting the editorial team for a new Substack newsletter, Peacemakers Needed, which is part of a collaboration between Faith Matters and the One America Movement. One America focuses on supporting faith communities to build resilience against polarization and division in their communities.
The newsletter aspires to be a hub for peacemaking initiatives, ideas, and writings of Latter-day Saints that help make peacemaking across political and cultural gulfs feel actionable.
We are seeking voices from across the globe and any contributions, now or in the next few weeks or months, if you have something you’d like to share. We also welcome suggestions/connections to others who might be a good fit for the newsletter.
We are focusing on these questions:
What in Latter-day Saint theology or practice gives you hope, guidance, or skills as a peacemaker?
How do you respond to despair, when the types of peace you hope for seem out of reach?
How do we hang on to our convictions while negotiating and seeking to understand or empathize with others?
Where do we even start, in addressing the polarization we feel in our communities today?
Do you have any stories of peacemaking fumbles or mistakes that you have learned from?
We welcome answers to one or all of these questions, ranging from 50 to 300 words. Send them along with a short bio and picture. And if you would like to collaborate for a longer piece, please reach out to Diana at di...@faithmatters.org.
