Hi all,

Some of you might know of Wayfare Magazine. This is how they describe themselves: "Wayfare seeks to be a companion and guide on the journey of faith. We publish a range of original writing: essays, interviews, dispatches, profiles, poetry, miracles, sermons, and works of book, film, and art criticism."

While less academic than our network aims to be, there are several Latter-day Saint academics who have written for it, so if you're looking for a more reflective, literature, arts, and essay space they might be of interest to you. They currently have applications open for a writing mentorship programme that I thought some of you might be interested in:

Wayfare Emerging Voices Program

Are you an emerging writer seeking to develop your craft? Do you have an idea but are not sure how to share it with the world? Join the inaugural 2025 Emerging Voices Wayfare Cohort and experience:

  • Personalized mentorship from experienced editors

  • A supportive community of fellow emerging writers

  • Publication opportunity in Wayfare

Our unique cohort model pairs you with two other emerging writers and two established Wayfare editors. Together, your group of five will workshop ideas and refine projects and prose over several low-stress, regular gatherings. You will also have the chance to attend seminars with Wayfare editors and other writers to explore the editing process at Wayfare. By the end of the program, you will have a submission-ready piece for Wayfare Magazine by early Fall 2025, together with an invitation to celebrate your work in person.

How to Apply

Submit your application by April 30, 2025 including:

  • A brief pitch (200 - 500 words) of your proposed essay

  • A brief paragraph (200 - 500 words) explaining why you want to participate

  • Your resume/CV (optional)
