Dear all,

Now that our own conference is done, we’re busy prepping for our Global Mormon Studies (GMS) presence at the Mormon History Association (MHA) conference!

Every year GMS sponsors an international student travel grant for MHA, which this year is going to Clara Maria Luna Varjão Schettini from Brazil, who is currently completing her PhD at Universidade Católica de Pernambuco. We’re so excited to see you at the conference!

In return for some volunteering hours, MHA kindly give us a free exhibition table every year, which is an important way for us to share GMS. This year we also want to use MHA to help us raise money for the Melissa Inouye grant and for our next in-person conference. If you are going to be at MHA, please, please, please sign up to help us by volunteering: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Taa4fPf9b4ptHzLATiK1-6l__qxwXITq4absnpLOUOU/edit?usp=sharing

At MHA we do an annual “State of the Field Report” where we encourage you to add a slide of your recent and current work. Please add them by the end of May. Here is the link to add to the presentation:

This powerpoint will be shared at our table, and at the GMS Breakfast on Friday 6th June 7:15am. Here is the program for the breakfast:

  • Brief report of 2025 GMS Conference
  • Financial report by treasurer Caroline Kline
  • Lecture: Pioneer Women in the Early Church in Japan, by Conan Grames

Some of you may know that as well as chair of Global Mormon Studies I am also the Global Chair on the Mormon History Association board, so I happen to have some behind the scenes knowledge which means that I know several of our GMS community members will be receiving various awards at the conference. I am so excited, and looking forward to updating you one that!

I have also attached a flyer highlighting some of the available tours at the conference.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you in person!

Best wishes,

Michelle

Hi Michelle and everyone,

Thank you, Michelle, for sending this email with the various links. I look forward to seeing what everyone is up to, and have added my own slide to the mix. I've also made an effort to put myself out there more by signing up for a couple of volunteering slots. If you see me at the conference in June, please say hi and introduce yourself.

I look forward to seeing many of you in Ogden in June,

Ryan A Davis
