Hey, everybody! It's such a privilege to be a part of this group and to see such great minds collaborating on gathering and sharing data related to global Mormonism. Last year I reached out to let people know I'm editing a volume for Equinox's
Religion in 5 Minutes series that will be entitled
Mormonism in 5 Minutes. 2024 was the busiest and most hectic year of my life, and I was not able to dedicate as much time as I had hoped to making progress on the volume, but I'm still in need of a number of essay contributions from scholars or graduate students.
If anyone is interested in submitting something, I've put the description of the volumes for the series below and have attached some sample ToCs and some sample essays. I've also got a spreadsheet
here that has a number of questions and the names of folks who have claimed them. Feel free to add your name to any unclaimed questions or add any questions that you think need to be addressed, and I'll be cleaning things up this week so it's a little more user friendly.
The volume will consist of about 80 essays or so of about 750 words each that responds to a question about Mormonism that might be asked by students in a 100-level course. Here's a description from the editorial guide:
There are two key elements to each volume:
• The questions themselves must be broadly representative, in both phrasing and content, of how a novice reader themselves might conceive of and pose an issue.
• The answers, which must be succinct and readable in roughly 5 minutes, must be jargon-free and written for such a novice readership.
But a third element to each volume is also key:
• The answers will ideally do more than simply offer a straightforward reply to a query; instead, they will also try, when possible, to prompt the reader to consider some of the assumptions or implications of the very question itself.
Thanks so much!

PS - If you submitted something or reached out to me and have never heard back, please let me know. I am trying to get caught up on everything now that I have more bandwidth.
