Dear All,

As we are already aware, the resettlement process of the Internally displaced people who used to live in the West of A9 has commenced. During our recent visit to these areas of resettlement, we happened to understand the struggle those innocent people go through to stand on their own.

After speaking to people involved in administration and to people who actually go through these issues, we decided to assist them in up-bringing the educational facilities of the students in schools. While there are some NGOs who assist in providing with the basic needs, lack of shoes for the students were also recognized as a problem.

Remember the times we used to go to school ?? imagine how those innocent kids feel when they have to walk miles and miles in the sun with no shoes ... can we please try and walk in their shoes ??? Please give it a try to donate at least one pair ...

Attached is a request forwarded to us through Sarvodaya,  from the Civil Affairs Officer of the 215 Brigade in Mannar,  whom we met during our recent visit to the north.

Please see if you could support this worthy cause by forwading this to your friends/ collegues who may want to help, as these school children  are urgently in need of shoes.

To summarize their need

Size 04 – 348 (boys) & 350 (girls)

Size 05 – 520 (boys) & 458 (girls)

Size 06 – 210 (boys) & 230 (girls)

Size 07 – 252 (boys) & 251 (girls)

Size 08 – 34 (boys)  & 82 (girls)

The first lot of shoes will be sent on the 19th Friday 2010.

Please keep me or Janaki (0777354154) posted

Thanks  alot

love

Supipi
