for folks in qat'ar, etc... -- 

note that ala alwan, former minister of education from iraq and former director of non-communicable diseases @ WHO, will be moving to head up the Eastern Mediterranean region office of WHO (has coverage on qat'ar, etc...). would be useful to think about setting up a meeting with him whenever he is in Doha for a WHO meeting? 

what would success look like? getting medical students at WCMC-Qat'ar plugged into the policy debates on health governance in that region. could focus on diabetes and mental health, etc...

6 January 2012 -- Six Gulf States detail how they plan to tackle noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) during the coming years. The regional strategy by Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates lays out details on setting targets and measuring results, advancing multisectoral action, and strengthening national capacity to combat NCDs.
