Hathaway Inc, run by billionaire Warren Buffett, said it has this week purchased another 4.3 million shares of Occidental Petroleum Corp, giving it a 19.2 per cent stake in the oil company.

The Union environment ministry has issued Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022, in view of the phasing out of certain single-use plastic products from July 1 and the mandate to increase the thickness of plastic carry bags to over 120 microns from December 31. The rules specify what biodegradable plastics are and provide a statutory framework for their use as an alternative material. BRUSSELS, July 14 (Reuters) - The European Commission has proposed to EU countries a deal with Azerbaijan to increase imports of natural gas and support the expansion of a pipeline to do this, according to a draft document seen by Reuters.

The draft memorandum of understanding, which needs approval from the governments involved and could still change, is part of European Union efforts to slash reliance on Russian gas following the war in Ukraine. Read more...

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has developed an indigenous lifecycle management system for the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to reduce the cost of maintenance and rehabilitation of offshore oil platforms.

India will need a funding of $15 billion to set up 15 GW (gigawatt) of green hydrogen capacity by 2030, NITI Aayog Member V K Saraswat said on Thursday. He was speaking at a conference 'India@2030: A Roadmap for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Renewable Energy' organised by CII here, a statement said.

Efficiently producing green hydrogen energy on a large scale is critical to reducing the use of carbon fuel. Making this transition is tricky, though, because of the many challenges in transporting and distributing hydrogen.A team of researchers offers a new approach: Using electrolysis to create hydrogen from wastewater and other nontraditional sources at sites close to where the hydrogen will be consumed.
