Hi everyone, this is Chris from the two-person Ecology Team.  I know the Psychology Team is a only one-person show, but hopefully the Business and Psychology teams are fully staffed.  Yesterday my Ecology Team chose Singapore for our focus city. It is a sprawling city-state with just slightly over 5 million people; it is also a city with unique global trade involvement which contributes to the local developmental challenges that are impacting their environment.  Our documentation of our city choice was entered on the GTF Charter.  The Ecology Team also filled out the remaining sections of the Charter to the best of our ability.  While we are not certain we have filled it out correctly, any changes, improvements and individual team information needs to be entered by ALL groups by 6pm tonight.  Sorry if we're perceived as yelling in an email, but NO other groups have contributed anything to the Charter beyond their names, contact info & major/ field of study.  This is part of our grade so the Ecology Team would sincerely appreciate everyone addressing this today. The link you need to copy & paste to access the Charter is below.

I know this project may seem like we are off to a rocky start, but I think we will feel like we have a handle on things after today's Charter & WebEx assignments have been completed.

Thank You from the Ecology Team

Hi!

The reason why the business team has not yet filled out the charter is because we were under the impression that we would all fill it out together in the meeting as this is how other groups have done it. From the information we have been given we thought we would discuss cities and challenges, and as said, fill out the charter during the meeting.
Singapore seems like a great focus city, but we should find out challenges and solutions as our assignment is smart cities. If you suggest all groups contribute to the charter by ourselves and not together in the meeting, that is okay. We are ofcourse very motivated to achieve a good grade as well. I believe there has been a lot of confusion about this project, but after filling out the charter and after the webex today, i believe this project will be very successful!

Ingrid Krakhella Sørensen
The business team.

From the Ecology Team:  All good points Ingrid--agreed--the directions say to "develop the Charter through mutual discussion & consensus".  However, the Charter has entries for Team info that do not need to be discussed with everyone in the Meeting.  Ecology started working on other entries early because we became concerned about the slow start on this week's goals-- caused by crucial problems with communications, lack of Team member attendance, and Doodle Poll incompleteness-- as Sunday night fast approached.  Ecology's contributions to the Charter were all stated in parenthesis so other Teams would not think they were reading some Group Consensus.  We also hoped our input would inspire others to contribute early due to the Project's less-than optimal start-up and last minute scheduling of the Meeting.

Ecology was, and is still somewhat vague on team roles.  From classroom instructions, we were under the loose impression that Ecology would investigate the City's "Smart" challenges, consider innovative solutions and submit these solutions to the Business & Psychology Teams.  We thought the Business Team would investigate the financing feasibility/ advantages & disadvantages of our ideas, while the Psychology Team would weigh-in on both the potential Psych/ social effects of these "ideas" on the city's residents and the collaborative performance aspects of our Teams.  The entire Group would them repeatedly loop all the pros & cons through all the Teams until our Web Sight is complete.

Also, I did not intend for my short description of Singapore to suggest that we wanted or planned on investigating anything other than Smart City challenges.

Ecology apologizes for any confusion we may have caused-- and the long emails...
We look forward to a much better understanding of all this as a result of the Meeting.

This is what the GTF is:

The task:

- Each global task force (GTF) must select ONE city for which they will

identify ONE key environmental challenge to address

- Use the concept of ‘smart cities’ to develop a plan to improve the

environmental issue

I believe the task to investigate the city smart challenges and consider solutions is everyones task. And i guess the deadline for identifying an ecological challenge specific to the city is oct 5th? This is what it says on our slides. I do not believe that the business groups task is to investigate the financing. it is not business as in finance, but business as in markets etc.. We have not yet received much information on what the different groups are contributing with. I guess if we have chosen singapore we should find one environmental challenge at the meeting today, and also complete the charter. The business team has now contributed to the charter.

Hello fellow team members,

On behalf of the leadership team, I have filled out parts of the charter as well.
Now, we will only need the input of the psychology team on the charter and attend the meeting to fill out the rest.
