Job Description:
** Applicant must be able
analyze, design and code, using common software development processes;
** computing applications addressing business requirements. Constructs, designs,
maintains, and integrates computing applications, including company-developed
and commercial off-the-shelf software.
** Applicant must have experience
developing and maintaining complex numerical algorithms in FORTRAN and C.
** Must
be able to interface and effectively communicate with users, other engineers
& programmer/analysts, architects, systems analysts, and other technical
and support personnel.
** Must be able to demonstrate a solid business
understanding of the assigned task and translate that into the design of
software in a legacy system.
** The applicant must also be able to write clear and
detailed Software Documentation that can be used by other engineers and
analysts to design, modify and maintain the code.
** Must be able to accurately
estimate the effort required to code from specifications written by others.
** Consistently demonstrate a high-level of coding proficiency and can be assigned
coding tasks of a complex nature.
** Expected to provide guidance to, and assist
in training less experienced associates in coding techniques and principles.
** Execute various forms of testing; unit, system, regression, integration,
performance, volume, etc.
** Applicant will be expected to lead design and code reviews,
provide input into moderately complex technical designs and propose solutions.
** Must also perform complex analysis and recommend solutions for disruptions in
production systems.
Education/Experience:
** Bachelor or Master?s
of Science degree in Computer Science or other closely related engineering
discipline.
** Applicant must have a minimum of 10 years experience as a software
engineer, that includes software development responsibilities.
** Applicant must
be expert in FORTRAN, C and UNIX development in a command line environment.
** Applicant must be highly proficient with Perl, Shell and other UNIX compatible
scripting languages and a have a working knowledge of the Windows operating
system and standard office software packages.
** In addition, it would be desirable
if the applicant has experience in the following: HPUX, C++, Java, XML.
