Hi Global Fixers:

The raw video for 551 2020-04-19 Virtual Fixit Clinic Lund Sweden is here: https://youtu.be/4OPYRAE97E4

If someone wants to time index it for the presenters that would be great.

We saw:
-From Paris, France: Tefal type 1006 series 2 waffle iron When plugged in, it produces a short circuit.
-From St. Austell, Cornwall, UK: DVD/VCR Player/Recorder SONY RDR-VX410GI VCR door stuck open. When turned on it powers itself off. Occurred after video stuck in machine and pulled out eventually. https://youtu.be/4OPYRAE97E4?t=1903
-From Minneapolis, Minnesota US: Sewing machine Kenmore 385 Top thread is getting tangled around the bobbin case after a few stitches making the machine unusable.https://youtu.be/4OPYRAE97E4?t=1050 and again at https://youtu.be/4OPYRAE97E4?t=4507
-From Malmö, Sweden: Wet and dry cleaner for professional use Alto NILFISK/ kew technology  WDC 40 40 It should be possible to spray liquid/detergents on the carpet or whatever we want to clean but nothing comes out of the nozzle. In fact, nothing is pumped through. I don't know when or how this occured. Probably long time ago. Yes, we dissassembled it and found that the liquid is not pumped through. We found a very good repair guidance on youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoO9ckyJ-rs  ) for that particular kind of pump (Italian ULKA type EP7). We followed it and concluded that the pump should work but it doesn't.
-From Berkeley, California, US: Large sliding screen door bent frame and doesn't roll well I've tried removing the rollers to replace them, but couldn't figure out how

The Zoom chat is below, photos are at:

================================

20:02:43 From  Peter Mui : If you go to full screen mode you can see 25 people at once
20:07:22 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : You must look inside further
20:08:13 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Perhaps two wires are touching because the insulation has burned away, or worn away
20:08:40 From  Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Are we already solving, or is this just intro before break-out?
20:09:05 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : The problem can begin at/on the power cord.- Must look there first
20:09:18 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)(Privately) : we are going to do 10 minutes on each and then breakout if more time needed
20:09:21 From  Peter Mui : Can Benoit show us the multimeter
20:09:25 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Is the power cord removable?
20:10:55 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium) : looks like that, John
20:11:28 From  Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Maybe also mention something about safety: electronically devices always disconnected
20:11:40 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Check just the power cord IF it is removable
20:11:46 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : what does it mean, 80?
20:12:15 From  Peter Mui : 80 ohms
20:12:22 From  Peter Mui : should be 0
20:12:31 From  Peter Mui : or almost 0
20:12:44 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : THIS measurement should be ZERO
20:13:08 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : So, that means that there is a short?
20:15:15 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Must open up further to look for damaged wires!
20:16:37 From  Jessika, Sweden : Peter was just showing us an example of a thermal fuse
20:17:20 From  Peter Mui : Mute Chris Witt
20:18:55 From  Peter Mui : Waffle irons are not that difficult, he might have some touching wires inside
20:19:06 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : What?  “They were actually touching?"
20:19:23 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium) : yes, he said that
20:20:11 From  Peter Mui : I asked him to get an outlet strip with a built-in circuit breaker so we can test this
20:21:01 From  Benoit Sarels : They were not exactly touching, but there was a connection
20:21:03 From  Sylvain Hayoun Boulder Colorado : may be we can create a breaking room with Benoit?
20:21:27 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : What make and model? How old is machine?
20:21:37 From  John - Boston USA : yes I think they will but you can only create the breakout rooms at once so I think its pause on him and check to see if others need breakout rooms
20:21:53 From  Peter Mui : Kenmore 385
20:22:28 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Did you hand wind the bobbin thread or use the machine to load the thread on bobbin?
20:22:50 From  Peter Mui : Yeah Sandra! Great you’re here!
20:23:49 From  Jessika, Sweden : yes, we will have breakout rooms after all repair questions have been presented - so everyone who is willing to stay a bit can go continue to help in break out rooms
20:25:03 From  Peter Mui : All Fixit Coaches community repairers should learn how to maintain and fix sewing machines, it’s an item we always see.
20:25:20 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Is there a burr on the metal?
20:25:50 From  Ben Daniels - Minneapolis, MN : Is the bottom-right screw adjustable?
20:25:51 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Have you changed the needle?
20:25:59 From  John - Boston USA : possible bend in some of the metal parts because of that heavy material?
20:26:22 From  Doug, Wellesley MA USA : Here is the service manual https://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0612394.pdf
20:26:25 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : I would love to learn more about sewing machines-  I know nothing!
20:26:29 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Are you using a good quality thread?
20:29:40 From  chris : somd
20:29:49 From  Peter Mui : With so many people sewing coronavirus masks around the world machines are breaking. I’ve set up a placeholder for a Sewing Machine Spotlight Fixit Clinic and asked Sandra and some of the other Fabric and Textile-specialist Fixit Coaches to participate.
20:31:02 From  chris : sometimes bobbin doesn't wind evenly, even when machine wound.
20:31:45 From  Brian  USA Boston : or another bobbin
20:32:58 From  Wayne, Colorado USA : This video might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rQH4AcpYFw

20:34:04 From  chris : this is a little way-out, but not all bobbins are the same size. are you sure you did not accidentally introduce a bobbin from another machine which is different width
20:34:41 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : she has two devices
20:35:17 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : the eco is because she has logged in on two devices
20:35:40 From  Peter Mui : The window where I see Eileen’s video says she’s muted
20:36:43 From  Ben Daniels - Minneapolis, MN : The issue is that if you mute the mic in Zoom, is it going to mute both the devices?
20:39:20 From  Peter Mui : It’s not pulling the tape out and around the helical scan head
20:39:53 From  Tomas : is there some switch that is not being activated that makes the slot stay open?
20:40:13 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : I vote for a broken belt underneath
20:40:40 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : it seems like the mechanism is not  operating
20:40:47 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : not loading properly
20:41:42 From  Doug, Wellesley MA USA   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Can i share a schematic of the machine.... someone mentioned the belt on the bottom..
20:42:05 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Doug, Wellesley MA USA(Privately) : yes!
20:44:38 From  Peter Mui : Thanks for the schematics Doug!
20:47:41 From  chris : we had a carpet cleaner that wouldn't squirt water. turned out the hose & nozzle were completely clogged with some kind of mineral from water, or possibly cleaning agent
20:48:41 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : So, no suction and no squirt??
20:48:47 From  Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE) : Maybe pressure leak?
20:48:51 From  Ben Daniels - Minneapolis, MN : So is there a leak somewhere else?
20:48:52 From  Tomas (NL, EN, FR) from Belgium : someone who does not use a headset does not mute his/her mic and as a result, we get this feedback sound
20:49:58 From  chris : yes, trial with output hose disconnected
20:50:10 From  Peter Mui : Clogged hoses
20:50:36 From  John - Boston USA : I do vote for a clog too I think...
20:51:02 From  chris : according to the Utube repair video, pumpt shou
20:51:18 From  chris : ld hum when powered up
20:51:39 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Remove the hose (output) and see if water squirts out before the hose
20:51:52 From  Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE) : Dear all, my diner is being served, so I’m off, but this session was very informative: I definitely learned some new stuff!
20:52:16 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)(Privately) : Bye Tuen!
20:52:26 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)(Privately) : Ah, Teun! :)
20:52:42 From  Teun Hoevenaars (NL / SE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Great organisation Jessica, really knowledgeable people there, and well organized!!
20:53:09 From  chris : I think Utube vid implied you could get inner cartridge repl for pump
20:53:19 From  Brian  USA Boston : you don't think vacuum moter sucks  wet into hose
20:53:32 From  Aake Thidell, Lund, Sweden : thanks for your tidps
20:55:03 From  Peter Mui : Ruth’s in Berkeley, CA, US
20:55:10 From  chris : those screens are a perennial headache.  need a visual warning device at eye level for all heights of persons. like a yellow stripe
20:56:17 From  chris : yeh, its really hard to make a bend like that perfectly strate again.  will probably never mesh well with doorframe
20:56:30 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : maybe you could use a bank vise : https://images.app.goo.gl/LPR8xmvsyGbUpeNv5
20:57:09 From  Peter Mui : I agree with Chris. what’ Wayne’s saying too.
20:57:31 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : can  I give a suggestion?
20:57:36 From  chris : suggest you put a 3rd block in middle channel to maintain spacing between outer flanges while bending
20:57:49 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : my thought exactly! :-)
20:58:03 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that aluminum will be very difficult to make straight
20:58:28 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : The aluminum gets work hardened and never really goes back to where it should be
20:58:32 From  chris : steves right, they get brittle, might crack
21:01:13 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Next time, maybe you can recommend that contributors give a chance for others to speak up.  It has been the Wayne show today.  God bless him, but..
21:01:29 From  chris : sometimes they are a pressfit in the frame. can you just pull strate out?
21:01:47 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Also, I have raised my hand several times, but have not been recognized.
21:03:37 From  chris : yah, curve presents a problem..  narrow block, like maybe a big nut.
21:03:49 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   John Minneapolis Minnesota(Privately) : yes, there is a lot going on, and I think I am the only one that can see the hands. I am trying to wait for a natural break rather than interrupt, but a bit hard, sorry! :) Good suggestions!
21:04:19 From  chris : yes ruth, we need you. come and coach with us
21:04:22 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Thanks!  I know it’s tough.  The good news is that we seem to be helping!
21:04:35 From  chris : yes wayne, I have the same problem
21:04:39 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Bring a dish washer to fix next time!
21:05:15 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Fixed??
21:05:48 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Let's have some waffles, then!
21:06:08 From  chris : yes WHERE IS THE SHORT
21:06:32 From  Brian  USA Boston : he found touching wires
21:06:36 From  Tyler Bernotas - Phoenixville, PA, USA : potentially wrap the exposed metal with electrical tape if there is any to keep it from touching
21:06:55 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Yay!
21:07:19 From  chris : wayne is absolutely right, bad QQC
21:07:21 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Yes-  wrap those wires with electrical tape!!
21:07:46 From  Benoit, Roscoff, France : What's QQC?
21:07:53 From  chris : I recommend silicone sealer goo to make sure wires don't touch again
21:08:21 From  chris : sorry I meant QC, quality control
21:09:40 From  Brian  USA Boston : did she look at manual
21:09:46 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : what do we do with Larry and Leslie?
21:09:46 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Could you do a cycle by hand?
21:09:50 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : On the waffle maker- yes, use something substantial like heat-resistant silicone to keep the wires from ever touching again
21:09:54 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : In the lobby...
21:10:05 From  chris : last note on waffle maker - fixing short is really important since this is probly 220V
21:10:09 From  Jessika, Sweden : Hi, we are almost concluding the session...
21:10:40 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)(Privately) : yes, we can chat to them. I told them we are almost done...
21:10:42 From  Wayne, Colorado USA : Good idea, John. Scary to think that a product could fail this way. Usually there's an insulation barrier between the terminals to prevent shorts.
21:11:34 From  Benoit, Roscoff, France : Yes it's 220V
21:11:45 From  Jessika, Sweden : are you here as a volunteer?
21:11:47 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Ah I see… didn't know about that functino :D
21:11:49 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : is that thread really supposed to go around that black thing?
21:12:08 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : I would think it should move inside
21:13:27 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : I would think that the thread should come out of the winch (correct term?) the silver colored circle
21:13:43 From  Wayne, Colorado USA   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : My brother Larry would like to join us. He's in the waiting room. He forgot to register.
21:13:53 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : with the little punched-out circles :-)
21:13:58 From  Ruth from Berkeley, CA : Screen door update: The screws on the frame seem to be just for adjustment.  Cannot get roller out!
21:15:10 From  Ray Pfau from Bolton, MA, USA : screen door
21:15:17 From  Wayne, Colorado USA : Screen door roller replacement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGihG4Q4Wbs
21:15:19 From  Fred - Boulder : I can go back with either screen door or VCR
21:15:25 From  chris : tomas, we call that little silver spool the 'bobbin'
21:15:44 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : ah! de bobijn! :-)
21:15:45 From  John - Boston USA : sewing machine is fine
21:15:48 From  chris : yes sometimes the roller is a pressfit into the edge of the door
21:15:57 From  Doug, Wellesley MA USA   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : I will go to the VCR if she needs more help
21:16:06 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : thanks, Chris!
21:16:55 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Sewing machine room pls
21:17:15 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : You can put me in the sewing machine breakout room
21:18:39 From  chris : should be a friction device somewhere that keeps thread from 'bunching'
21:18:54 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Eileen's iPhone(Privately) : WOuld you like more help Eileen?
21:19:21 From  chris : oh good question wayne
21:19:34 From  Jessika, Sweden : Anyone else for VCR to help Eileen?
21:19:36 From  Eileen's iPhone   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : yes please
21:19:36 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : I find that on my Husquvarna the bobbin holder does rattle a bit normally.
21:19:54 From  John - Boston USA : yeah it is usually a bit loose I think
21:20:11 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)(Privately) : Can you go to VCR with Doug?
21:21:04 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : I think I was being too timid- if I just unmute myself and speak up it works well!  Thanks Jessika
21:21:58 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : What does the service manual say about that toggle mechanism?
21:22:08 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   John Minneapolis Minnesota(Privately) : No worries! The hand raising was an experiment, but it is still hard to see - so yes, just speaking up. But will continue to refine hosting :)
21:22:19 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : I'm reading through it, but it's not mentioned anywhere it seems
21:22:29 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : https://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/pd60-627569106.php?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7ID1iJv16AIVA__jBx0hugVDEAkYCSABEgJ9vvD_BwE
21:22:43 From  John Minneapolis Minnesota : Bobbin “case”
21:22:50 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium) : Could it be a setting on the machine to move the metal piece? it was saying 10 on the plastic cover
21:22:53 From  chris : any chance you could find an identical machine that works, and carefully inspect for comparative differences?
21:23:23 From  Benoit Sarels : Bad news from the waffle iron: short circuit is still there.
21:23:31 From  chris : OOPS
21:23:40 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : where did you get the service manual, Olivier?
21:25:26 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : if it cuts everyone in the house
21:25:48 From  chris : how about disconnect both sides of power cable at iron, then plug in to see if the fault is in the cable. be careful don't let the ends touch while U do this
21:26:13 From  Peter Mui : Did it actually start working, i.e. was it heating up?
21:26:17 From  Sandra Stewart - California : Thanks everyone!
21:26:21 From  Pat, Colorado, USA : Goodbye and thanks
21:26:25 From  Peter Mui : Bye Sandra! thank you!!

21:26:34 From  Jessika, Sweden : Thanks for coming!
21:27:33 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : do you have a multimeter, Benoit?
21:27:38 From  Benoit Sarels : yes
21:28:52 From  Jessika, Sweden : There are still rooms working on screen doors and the VCR - if you want to work on these, just let me know in the chat
21:28:56 From  chris : have you tried plugging in waffle iron on another power circuit
21:30:40 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Jessika, is a setting that sometimes I can fix the video I want to choose and others not?
21:31:06 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Angel Urueña (Belgium)(Privately) : in the view setting?
21:31:12 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : yes
21:31:22 From  chris : could we see meter display when measuring
21:31:30 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : when I chick the three dots
21:31:37 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Angel Urueña (Belgium)(Privately) : speaker view usually shows Benoit and you can pin it
21:32:32 From  Peter Mui Berkeley CA USA : Wait he’s on Amps?
21:42:47 From  chris : what about disconnecting some/all parts and plug in again to see if the short goes away
21:47:20 From  chris : looks like spade connectors.
21:50:03 From  chris : well it is a KIND of short circuit if it's going to ground
21:51:04 From  John - Boston USA : ok thanks all, I am off.  Great to see you all.  Look forward to more fixes soon!
21:51:13 From  Jessika, Sweden : Thanks for coming John!

21:51:19 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : bye! thanks for joining!
21:51:28 From  chris : and if it's grounding inside case, there might be a heating element inside a tube, that is grounding to the outer metal jacket of the heater element
21:51:47 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : no worries Ulf!
21:51:47 From  chris : by john thanks for joining us
21:52:26 From  Ulf, Malmö, Sweden   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Ok, very nice session! I learned stuff :) Talk to you later
21:53:08 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : Yes, we will need to debrief :) Whew!
21:53:15 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : good nite!
21:53:19 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : this is a spare connector
21:53:29 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : *spade
21:53:33 From  chris : the short-to-ground might be happening intermittently when heater heats up & expands
21:54:24 From  Ulf, Malmö, Sweden   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : One note Jessika! I have spotlighted Benoit, and I think it applies to everyone. You should be able to cancel it on the top left of the screen. Can you find it?
21:54:28 From  chris : we say 'ground' when we mean 'earth'
21:55:20 From  chris : spade connector often has a little tab that locks it in place, push to release
21:55:25 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : ah! That was clever! I was wondering about how the spotlighting worked. I will figure it out :) It says I can cancel the spotlight video
21:55:50 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) : it heats up for a minute...THEN faults.
21:55:54 From  chris : yes wayne ground fault
21:56:53 From  chris : in calif we mandate GFCI in kitchen inter alia
21:57:01 From  Ulf, Malmö, Sweden   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Great, yes I tried to manage the spotlight, hope it helped people :)
21:57:26 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : definitely did, thanks!
21:57:28 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) : probably soldered on.
21:57:30 From  Ulf, Malmö, Sweden   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : See you later, Bye!
21:57:36 From  chris : or welded
21:57:39 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Ulf, Malmö, Sweden(Privately) : bye bye, thanks again!

21:58:13 From  chris : have to press tab in right place
21:58:38 From  Ulf, Malmö, Sweden : I'm leaving for today guys. Thanks a lot, I learned stuff!
21:58:54 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) : we haven't seen underneath the other heating element area
21:59:01 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) : on the other half of this unit
21:59:02 From  chris : I still have trouble believing there is a capacitor
21:59:27 From  chris : by Ulf, thank you hope to CU again
21:59:30 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) : it's harder to open up.
22:00:39 From  chris : yes wayne measure resistance from heater circuit to metal case. but if it doesn't make contact when at room temp we will not get a diagnostic
22:02:23 From  chris : is it possible the heating element inside an insulated metal tube makes a kind of capacitance
22:06:17 From  chris : I'm ready to stay for a while
22:07:08 From  Larry Seltzer, NYC (Queens) :     the case
22:07:20 From  chris : how about test probes together for verification
22:07:31 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : good idea!
22:07:41 From  chris : okay
22:08:45 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : Ecellent idea!
22:08:56 From  chris : yes exactly peter, I was just about to suggest that.
22:09:09 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Aake Thidell, Lund, Sweden(Privately) : do you need more help with vacuum Aake, or it is just the spare part needed now, right?
22:09:26 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Aake Thidell, Lund, Sweden(Privately) : Feel free to get some rest - it doesn't always go this long! :)
22:09:28 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : I'm leaving, a bit tired after a long bike trip today. Unfortunately we were not able to fix the VCR. There was a broken cog wheel and there is no spare part for it. She'll try to find a replacement at some shop where they save such things, she knows a place apparently.
22:09:37 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : he has trouble releasing the connectors from the resistors
22:09:43 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Was a fun session :D
22:10:06 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : so it comes from the other side or from the casing?
22:10:17 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)(Privately) : No worries! Thanks for trying and monitoring the break out room. No one seems to want to give up on the waffle iron! :)
22:10:33 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : Shouldn't have talked about multimeters when I have no clue about them :D But I learned a lot about sewing Machines :D
22:10:47 From  chris : yah. what does he have to lose by cutting the wires and then rejoining them later with crimp connectors
22:10:49 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE)(Privately) : but it has been fun! :)
22:11:04 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : if he has crimp connectors that is ;-)
22:11:26 From  Hannes (GER, ENG, SWE) : I'm off! Take care and good luck with the other repairs! Hope to see you again!
22:11:51 From  chris : bye Hannes Vielen Dank
22:12:00 From  Jessika, Sweden : Thanks Hannes! :)
22:13:26 From  chris : does the tube of the heater resistor form a capacitor with the insulated inner element?
22:13:45 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : the white is paint so isolates to a certain degree
22:14:11 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : can we look at the other part which he started opening?
22:14:41 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : yes
22:14:46 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : thanks Jessika! :-)
22:14:51 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : <3
22:14:54 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : LOL
22:15:41 From  chris : very good howdy
22:15:49 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : NO
22:15:56 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : see the other part!!
22:16:00 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : PLEASE
22:16:02 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : PLEASE
22:16:11 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : PLEEAEAEAESE
22:16:30 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : :-)
22:16:46 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : I just can't get enough of this ;-)
22:17:11 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : it is too weird to not futher investigate
22:17:17 From  chris : yes wayne disconnect one part at a time and see what makes a difference
22:18:13 From  chris : I still think there is some path inside a heater resistor somewhere
22:18:16 From  Peter Mui Berkeley CA USA : You want to finish while everyone is still having a good time, that way people will want to come back.
22:18:30 From  chris : okay peter fair euf
22:18:46 From  chris : I meant fair enuf
22:18:49 From  Aake Thidell, Lund, Sweden   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : From my side (the liquid pump to the vacuum cleaner): found some hoses to flood the pump. It is possble to get water flowing through. Maybe even to build up some pressure. However, still not possble to get underpressure/suction on the input side. The work continues...
22:18:55 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : I like dopamine shots over cliffhangers
22:18:59 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : :-D
22:19:09 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium)   to   Jessika, Sweden(Privately) : :D
22:19:19 From  Angel Urueña (Belgium) : :D
22:19:42 From  chris : all right Tomas we look forward to dopamines with U next time
22:20:15 From  chris : HAHAHAHAH
22:20:53 From  chris : howdy good question.
22:20:53 From  Peter Mui Berkeley CA USA : Howdy works at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Hi Howdy!)
22:21:12 From  Jessika, Sweden   to   Aake Thidell, Lund, Sweden(Privately) : ah, ok, I misunderstood then! I thought you already were ordering the part with Anders! Sorry, then I cut you short!
22:21:30 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : if she would have wet hands when touching the waffle thing it might be too much for her body...
22:21:58 From  chris : agreed Tomas, maybe funny but not so funny with wet hands
22:22:17 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : 300 mA and 30 mA respectively, adding to Olivier's explanation
22:22:32 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : on 230-240V AC
22:23:27 From  chris : good point howdy, is it possible there are other background leakage currents in the house, that add up to a trip when you plug in iron
22:23:36 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : that would be very interesting such a device!
22:23:54 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : how do you make such a thing?
22:24:26 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : yeah but milliamps on 240 V
22:24:38 From  chris : yes wayne good idea. would have to be an outlet receptacle with an ammeter between hot, neutral, and earth
22:24:57 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : not milliamps on 5 V
22:25:22 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : and AC or course
22:25:32 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : could you send us the details of what you showed?
22:25:47 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : that thing!
22:26:08 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : current sensor
22:27:22 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : we would like to know the model number of that good one for 2$
22:27:30 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : :-)
22:27:46 From  Tomas (NL-EN-FR) Belgium : it was great
22:27:49 From  Olivier (NL, ENG, FR) : thanks a lot everyone!
22:27:58 From  Benoit Sarels : Thanks a lot!
22:28:10 From  chris : thank you Jessika and peter
