At Virtual Fixit Clinic 557 2020-07-12 Boulder Colorado US this weekend we're scheduled to see:

-From Berkeley California US: CD Player The Crosley Collectors Edition CR1101A manufactured Jan 2014 Broken tab on cd door, won't close

The participant sent this photo with these accompanying comments:
"This is frustrating because I am not sure you can see the missing tiny piece of plastic that broke off to keep the CD cover closed so that the disc can play.
I went to a hardware store, they sold me a very small screw and 3/32.’ drill bit to get he screw into the space where the plastic broke off. They said to use glue to secure the screw afterwards."

For plastic reconstruction, we heard of superglue and baking soda:

Hi Angel:

Thanks for the fascinating superglue and baking soda video for plastic reconstruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=n1meoZaHYZo I'm planning to experiment with that: does anyone else have any experience with this or anything similar?

In the meantime: Joyce emailed that she fixed the CD player door on her own:

Used a small nail and museum putty.

i see we have soldering on our agenda for this Clinic. is it appropriate
for me to post a few prefatory remarks on this list to help orient the
Soldering Newbies and highlight the fundamentals? if so, i would also
encourage other experienced solderers to add their insights to whatever
i might have to say. of course there are bound to be millions of
soldering guides and tutorials on the Web and i don't know offhand where
any of them are, but i'm sure anyone with a good search engine can find
them.
