At the 2020-05-17 Virtual Fixit Clinic we saw Jackie's Cuisinart TOB-30BC Toaster Oven Broiler:

Toaster Oven Broiler Cuisinart TOB-30BC 2018 When I press the start button nothing happens, light doesn’t come on to indicate power

(Intro presentation of toaster oven: https://youtu.be/lOSxzGATkTg?t=408 return from breakout room: https://youtu.be/lOSxzGATkTg?t=4913)

A spot weld to one of the heating elements had come undone (we see this often with toaster ovens), we suggested she try a Split Bolt Joint Clamp to re-secure the loose wire(s) to the heating element: (Something like this but they sell them at hardware stores too):

Here's Jackie's reply to my inquiry as to what happened:

Hi, I bought the part at Lowes and Ray from Bolton repair cafe Zoomed with my husband and myself. We tried to install the part but the tightness of space was hampering us, even with an angled socket wrench. After Ray had to sign off from the call we decided to take the whole body off the toaster electronics, it was a bit violent. We were able to get a much better angle and view. However even though we were able to tighten the bolt as much as possible, the wires were still too loose; they would slip out. We didn't want to plug it in for fear of shorting out something and decided even if it worked we couldn't in good conscious give it to a family. See attached photo of installed part. We were also worried about how to prevent the heavier part from touching the metal. So alas I have scrapped it after saving all the trays which may get a second life in another unit. You guys were awesome and we learned a lot. Ray has been trying to recruit us for the local repair cafe .Thanks for following up.Jackie and my partner in crime, Marc.

She helpfully included the photo below, I can see why she and Marc were concerned about shorting issues. Is there some other type of connector we could've used / tried to replace a spot weld on the end of a heating element in a toaster oven? We see this a lot.

(And thanks to Ray for giving them the extra attention, too.)
