Dan from USA-CA-Boulder: microwave/convection built in oven Sharp R-93CS-P Intermittently fails to heat and carousel fails to rotate. Fan and lights continue to work. Haven't found any hits on intermittent problems. Tried jiggling the door to no avail. Tried rotating carousel and that *might* help.

Lasse from SWE-Skåne-Lund: A standing mixer: SMEG SMF03 It goes from off straight to full speed. Doesn't matter where on the potentiometer I put the speed selector, as soon as it's on, everywhere is the same. Full speed. Yes - I compared it to a Kitchenaid that has about the same structure but more repair videos (SMEG has almost nothing). In the beginning it wouldn't even come on. Then it wouldn't come off - but I have located and solved that (the switch on the control board). In the video from kitchen aid they said the most common problem with going to full speed and doesnt turn off, was a bad control board:
https://youtu.be/YZEbeaZDwJA?t=59 I've tried to find that particular control board as spare part but failed. I also tried to find a linear potentiometer with the same exact measurements - but haven't found it yet. Not sure it's the pot either... but it's just a hunch. Even found the chinese manufacturer of the circuit board (RK-13102A) with the potentiometer on. But they haven't responded.

And here's the chat:
11:02:29 From Gregg Ferry To Peter Mui Fixit Clinic Berkeley CA USA(privately) : Here is a link to a GitHub project that (in theory) will generate a .ics file
https://github.com/nwcell/ics.js11:13:00 From Dan Ovens Oshawa, Ontario, Canada : hd crash, looking for web cam after installing old Winchester that actually had office 365 on it... Been looking fwd to global fixIt
11:15:33 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : Printer Epson WF-3540
11:23:16 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) : Not sure if I’m supposed to declare what I have on here, but I have two small kitchen timers that have the same issue.
11:23:49 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : why do so many abandoned appliances have the power cable cut off? is it scrap recyclers cashing in on copper?
11:24:10 From Tom Karches-USA-Cary NC : I think it’s a liability thing
11:24:23 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) : I’d suspect it’s the shops spoiling them so folks can’t rescue them.
11:24:29 From Peter Mui Fixit Clinic Berkeley CA USA : Hi Cin you needed to register them in advance we've already got a full complement of items for today
11:24:42 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : Hi Cindy, sure we'll add you to the list. You can type, in chat brief description of your broken item and a what's wrong.
11:25:02 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) : Ok, I did RSVP in advance, but never got anything asking what the item was… maybe I used the wrong link…
11:25:05 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : standing mixer: SMEG SMF03
11:25:46 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) : It’s a small kitchen timer that when you put the battery in just makes a steady continuous beep.
11:25:59 From Bill Cary. NC : Sometimes companies will warranty an item by asking to simply return the cut off power cord.
11:26:27 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : I think we've reached the point where we need to go to the next intro.
11:26:47 From Bill Cary. NC : I can't tell if my mike is working
11:27:41 From Bill Cary. NC : been working on bikes all morning
11:27:56 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : some paint job!
11:30:23 From rapor : You need to get a spoke wrench at Amazon or a bike shop, and tweak the spoke tension, takes a bit of experience.
11:32:04 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa :
sheldonbrown.com has a wealth of info about working on bikes
11:32:34 From rapor : It looks like a fixie (only one speed) which some people love if they have good knees. The free clinic sounds like a great idea, if someone can show you how to adjust the spokes to straighten the rim.
11:33:02 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : do tell us how!
11:33:18 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) :
https://www.thebikehouse.org/11:33:28 From Cindy Rosin (New York City, NY, US) : (DC bike organization)
11:34:20 From Mark Stangl, Boulder Colorado : Google: free bike repair washington dc
11:35:18 From Dan Ovens Oshawa, Ontario, Canada : Bicycled year round on old bikes 25 years through every weather. Sometimes even a washer can can be a simple solution...
11:35:39 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : Andrea , you are a BORN fixer & COACH
11:36:47 From rapor : It's tough to explain, easier to show it. To straighten a rim you loosen the closest spoke with a spoke wrench 1/2 turn at a time, and tighten the adjacent spokes the same amount. Do it gradually until the rim gets straighter. If it doesn't seem to be helping, look for a bike clinic or a friendly bike shop.
11:37:58 From rapor : Be careful the brakes are functioning adequately, a warped rim reduces brake effectiveness.
11:39:50 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : Popcorn maker Dash DAPP150V2AQ04 2021
11:43:03 From Lasse Nilsson, Lund, Sweden : @chris in berkley about why they cut the cords- its a guarantee thing. The shop don’t have to pay for it and the manufacturer is sending a new one for free to the shop - if shop destroys it. But different manufacturers has different rules about what has to be done. But from SMEG its always the cord cut. It has nothing with the problem to do. I once found one with one letter in the logo missing (sitting in a small bag aside). Perfectly functioning - it was just cosmetic and could even be glued back. Cord cut anyways… but easy fix. Not like this standing mixer.
11:44:43 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : Surabhi from USA-CA Microwave GE JVM3162RJ3SS 2020 Strange noise
11:45:17 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : Zoom really interfers with the sounds. need to switch off the feedback /background controls in the Audio Control menu

https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115003279466-Using-and-preserving-original-sound-in-a-meeting11:51:31 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : the way I read the Zoom link, you have to have a paid account to get the Original Sound option. I don't .
11:52:29 From Chris Setz London UK : I have the original sound option working and do not have a paid account.
11:53:09 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : hmmm, thanks, I will try it.
11:53:18 From Chris Setz London UK : Good luck!
11:53:24 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA : OXO kitchen timer
11:56:50 From Bryan McAlley Sussex UK : Sorry, but it’s 2000hrs here and unless I go downstairs my dinner will be in the cat (again!). I’ll get the time right next time!! Hope the breakout rooms go well… Bye for now… Bryan
12:09:14 From Rotimi : Hi everyone, good to be here
12:14:21 From Gregg Carlsbad CA USA : My experience with 2032 batteries is that when the voltage drops to 3.0 (even 3.1) that the circuit no longer works
12:29:34 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : I second Wayne's endorsement of laser printers. toner powder does not dry out. also if you take printed materials outside in damp weather like I do as a cyclist with printed maps, laser print products resist water much better than inkjet.
12:49:58 From Dan Ovens Oshawa, Ontario, Canada : if the battery is too thin try a dime behind it
12:50:20 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : what voltage does the 2025 measure when you put the meter on It. substandard I bet
12:52:02 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : i don't trust cheap coin cells
12:52:31 From Tom Karches-Cary, NC, USA : It’s worth spending a little more to avoid the aggravation
12:54:11 From Dan Ovens Oshawa, Ontario, Canada : the dime was a solution for new car battery remote lock opener
12:55:13 From Wayne Seltzer Boulder Fix-It Clinic CO USA To Peter Mui Fixit Clinic Berkeley CA USA(privately) : Cindy is interesting:
https://www.usdan.org/cindy-rosin12:55:15 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : lern to keep my mouth shut on batt voltages
13:00:30 From Rotimi-NGA : why not try any fan speed regulator?
13:01:25 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : should work if it is designed to handle the current demanded by the mixer motor
13:01:29 From Tom Karches-Cary, NC, USA : Need to run…bye all!
13:01:41 From chris in berkeley, ca, usa : Bye tom
