RETURNING:
Molly from USA-MN-Marine: Molly (last month’s UMN host, toasters from 2021-01-23 Virtual Fixit Clinic) is showing a Stove/range top Frigidaire Custom Imperial (1967) There is a thermostatic control on one of the burners that doesn't work. It's called a ""Heat Minder"". We'd like to get this working again, if possible. Right now, the burner is either on or off, regardless of the knob setting (no heat control whatsoever). It is supposed to keep the burner at a consistent temperature.""Research into ""Heat Minder"" feature:
-thermostatic control
-thermocouple parts research (measures temperature of pan, a part in the middle of the burner)
-capillary copper tube connects to switch, adjusts resistance
-some troubleshooting steps in manual we have not gone through yet
-not sure if it's an electrical problem with the switch, not sure how to determine if it's a problem w/ the thermocouple (and if so, how to locate a replacement... there are a few options and they're very expensive)
-What makes a thermocouple compatible with another one

Myra from USA-CA-Orinda: Myra (numerous Virtual Fixit Clinics) is back with a Printer Epson Workforce 7610 large format printer 2015 The red ink won't print. It hasn't printed the whole time i've tried to fix it. I bought a second red cartridge and have followed online Global Fixer Server suggestions for cleaning clogged print heads. I have removed and flushed the print head: can someone guide me through reinstalling and testing it?

NEW:
Kim from USA-CA-Oakland: Battery Operated Pencil Sharpener Panasonic KP-2a I had left batteries in it a few years ago, and it no longer works, even with new batteries I have looked for youtube videos. I managed to take it apart AND I think I have it put back together correctly. I tried cleaning the battery contacts but not sure what else to try.  It is a fabulous pencil sharpener when it's working. I've returned 2 new ones in the last 2 weeks, junk.

Leslie from USA-CA-Los Angeles: Little Orange Lamp HIGH INTENSITY LAMP 120V, 60HZ, E58059 FACTORY B HIL-69 Does not turn on I bought a new bulb. Says to only use GE 93 bulb Lamp won’t turn on, do you think someone would be able to help me troubleshoot this? i got two sets of bulbs…

Sakina from USA-MN-Minneapolis: GAS LIFT BAR STOOL ROOM AND BOARD LEO BAR STOOL BASE PLATE IS DETACHING FROM THE STICK THAT JOINING THE SEAT TO THE BASE.THE STICK IS WOBBLY.

Elizabeth from USA-CA-Orange: Typewriter Brother AX-350 The keys won't strike and it makes a high pitched noise. I can reproduce the symptoms I have not done a web search but I did try to troubleshoot with alternate assistance.

Rachel from USA-CA-Oakland: Breville Convection Smart Oven Breville B0V800CRNXL Oven powers on. Digital display turns on. Buttons used to work but stopped functioning. Fan turns on but heat does not turn on. Neighbor who this belongs to heard a sizzling frying sound once, but it has never caught fire. Web research in forums shows that the display breaking is a common problem. This is my neighbor's oven, she explained the problem to me. I have basic tools and a multimeter which I am hoping you can walk me through in case it is a short circuit.

Ann from USA-CA-Santa Rosa: KitchenAid mixer KitchenAid B1123080 It runs too fast, I can't get a low or medium speed I researched you tube, but I haven't taken it apart yet.

Christina/Cookie from USA-(Mid-Atlantic): Dishwasher KitchenAid doesn't clean well - greasy / spots, manifested gradually I tried a commercial dishwasher cleaner and changed detergents (had a handyman repair it).

JoAnn from GBR-East Sussex: Sewing Machine Silvercrest 8750 Sewing Machine the needle is not picking up the bobbin thread.

00:44:52 Tomas Vanhoof: taking care is fun! ;-)
00:44:58 Peter Mui Fixit Clinic Berkeley CA US: Frigidaire Custom Imperial (1967) There is a thermostatic control on one of the burners that doesn't work. It's called a ""Heat Minder"". 00:49:10 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Leslie you are up next!
00:49:36 Steve Berl - Piedmont CA: Why are we saying BEER?
00:49:41 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: did the old batteries leak? did yu look at all the circuit parts to check for corrosion?
00:50:01 Leslie/Los Angeles: Leslie: orange lamp doesn't work. Made in Hong Kong maybe from 60s, no other name brand. Just got bulb recently.

00:52:54 Leslie/Los Angeles: 120V
00:53:13 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Sakina is next
00:53:27 Steve Berl - Piedmont CA: There’s a transformer in the base. It may have a thermal fuse of some sort associated with it.
00:53:30 Charlie Kennedy Foster City CA: The GE 93 bulb is a 12 volt bulb
00:53:47 Leslie/Los Angeles: Yes, that's the bulb listed on the stickers on orange lamp
00:53:52 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Christina from East Coast: you are up next!
00:54:00 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: @ steve, hi how are you, we are saying beer becus kim  said she paid someone with beer to work on her printer. not in advance, we hope.
00:54:19 Calvin Holmes (He/Him), San leandro CA, USA: Perhaps it has a step-down supply to 12v, Charlie.
00:54:23 Bryan  from East Sussex UK: Lamp - unplug it and then remove the bulb. Then carefully lever up the centre contact in the lampholder and try again…
00:54:50 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: is there a Christina?
00:54:56 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Elizabeth you might be next
00:55:34 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: i think bryan means bend the centre contact outward just a bit to make better contact with bulb.
00:55:49 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Rachel you are up next
00:56:17 Bryan  from East Sussex UK: Yup - bend side contact out, centre contact up!
00:56:55 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Ann from Santa Rosa you are after Rachel
00:57:02 Calvin Holmes (He/Him), San leandro CA, USA: Is it an electric or mechanical typewriter?
00:57:12 Marc near San Francisco, California: electric
00:57:23 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: bulb out - REMEMBER TO UNPLUG FIRST
00:57:53 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: TYPewriter - is there a drive belt? check for slippage

01:01:15 Elizabeth Lynn: My electric typewriter is an AX-350 model
01:01:22 Allen in Newton, Mass, USA: It has a speed control board . . . .screws generally get loose . . . it may be a simple fix or the control board has to be replaced
01:05:38 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Breakout Room #12 will be Cookie and the dishwasher
01:05:38 Calvin Holmes (He/Him), San leandro CA, USA: Had you just switched to pod-type soap?
01:06:13 Patty (She/Her) at San Leandro Public Library: sometimes cleaning vinegar can help clear up the parts
01:06:21 stephen Lon UK: Try adding rinse aid if it just smears
01:07:12 Marc near San Francisco, California: The kitchenaid mixer: no need to take the hinge apart. It’s a simple few screws. Take off end cap at the back, then push off trim ring around the rotating part, remove screws there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeCiivPt7hk
01:07:46 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: dishwashers sometimes get a clogged discharge hose, which retards pumpout. it can act like its working but delayed pumpout leaves dirty water in bottom til just before it comes to end of cycle.
01:08:06 Calvin Holmes (He/Him), San leandro CA, USA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rBO8neWw04
Interesting video, even if not the reason for the problem here.
01:08:07 chris in berkeley, ca, USA: can we do this in breakout room

02:25:53 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: a few dishwasher repair people suggested putting the dishwasher soap in the bottom of the dishwasher rather than in the dishwasher soap box
02:29:14 Mitch (San Leandro California): There is a silicone product called Sugru which is like a putty that you form and it solidifies over 24 hrs and it could hold the cables in place.
02:29:51 Jo MacLeod, East Sussex, UK: One can get parts 3d printed to ordewr
02:30:01 Jo MacLeod, East Sussex, UK: Order
02:31:10 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: hi folks, if you are interested in getting a copy of the drawdown book, feel free to email me at kman...@sanleandro.org

02:42:47 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: great, Gregg!
02:47:20 Calvin Holmes (He/Him), San leandro CA, USA: You could just put it on an external dimmer switch then, right?
02:48:42 Marc near San Francisco, California: The mixer? nope. It’s electro-mechanical, with fixed speeds. The phase control board is bad, the new part has lugs which the speed control board doesn’t, so the easy way is to replace both.
02:49:18 Kirstin at San Leandro Public Library: Thank you so much everyone for all of your help, sharing, and community building here!
02:49:33 Marc near San Francisco, California: Thanks for moderating Kirstin
