The 2022
Global Solutions Lab is in its 18th year. It is a powerful tool for global education. The Lab puts students from around the world "in charge" of the world and has them develop solutions for reaching the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, one focus area will be developing strategic designs and strategies for getting the nearly 600 million people in Africa who do not have access to electricity access to abundant, clean, safe, reliable, and affordable electricity from renewable sources. There are already more than 15 people registered from the Ivory Coast and other countries in Africa. Other focus areas include innovative solutions to global warming, regenerative food supplies, sustainable cities and topics brought by staff and participants.
Here’s a bit of what happens: After being briefed by UN and other experts, students become part of an international, multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural, and inter-generational design team. Each team develops solutions to real-world problems and strategies for achieving the SDGs, presents them at the UN in New York to a group of UN, corporate, philanthropic and NGO leaders, and has their work published in a book and in the Global Solutions Database.
Basic facts: The Lab runs June 12-25, 2022. It will be both
in-person at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, USA and
online.
Tuition: $250 for online, $950 for in-person. Partial tuition
scholarships are available. For
