Smith Maneuver

Hello, I'm writing from Colombia. I´d like to know if it´s possible to do a Smith maneuver (like in conventional extracapsular cataract surgery, for extract de nucleus,  doing pressure over de cornea and depressing de inferior wound lip) with an scleral tunnel in sics surgery. Thank you.

It is possible to do the Smith maneuver, but it is not necessary because the positive intraocular pressure in SICS will push the cataract out upon depression of the posterior lip of the tunnel. Use visco or an AC maintainer to create the positive pressure. You will also avoid endothelial damage from corneal depression.
