Hi. My name is Aaron Marcus, and I am excited about having just joined
the group. I want to introduce myself, and perhaps I can offer some
helpful information to anyone interested in acting and commercial modeling.
I have been making my living as an actor since 1986, and as of today, I
have been booked in 1,120 acting and modeling projects. You can see some
of my work at:
http://www.howtomodel.com/about_aaron/
I am hoping to build an incredible sharing community of actors and
models throughout the world. It will make things easier for all of us if
we can share information about auditions, go-sees, jobs and general
industry information.
At my web site, www.howtomodel.com I offer my free ASK AARON acting and
modeling advice column. This is a way for me to share some of my
experiences with others in the industry. Here are two ASK AARON --
Question and Answers. I hope you find them interesting and useful. There
are many more at my site.
*From **Justin**, **IL**:*
*How realistic is it to approach modeling on a part time basis? In
order to get modeling work, does it have to be a full-time job? *
Dear Justin:
I put myself through 2 years of college working as an actor and
commercial model part-time. I got my head shot and comp card done over
the summer. Then during the school year, in between classes, studying
and exams, I attended go-sees, auditions and accepted bookings.
Although I work as an actor and commercial model full-time, most of the
people I
know in the business have full or part time jobs with a steady flow of
income, and
periodically take time off for acting and modeling work.
*From **Jill**, **CA**:*
*I'm 15 years old and have been trying to get an agent for over a year
now. I've sent out my resume/pics to agencies twice and I had an
interview with two agencies but never got a call back from anyone. Any
advice?***
Dear Jill:
I do have a few ideas. You might want to ask the agents before sending
them your head shot if they represent 15 year olds. There are many
agencies who do not represent people your age. When they need to submit
a 15 year old for a project, they will contact the manager of teenagers.
Maybe the agents you sent head shots to only work with adults.
Jill, at your next open call ask for feedback on your head shot. It is
possible that your head shot does not represent you well. You really
need to make sure that your head shot looks like you, shows an
interesting personality, and exudes life. You also want to make sure
that the photo does not have anything in the shot that will distract
people from looking at you.
I will try and offer the group 2 more Q&A's each month. Feel free to
write me if you have any questions. If you would like to read more ASK
AARON Q&A's, visit:
http://www.howtomodel.com/ask_aaron/
I also send out free acting and modeling information each month to
everyone who registers on my site
http://www.howtomodel.com/email_newsletter/ This is all free as well.
I look forward to being a part of this group, and hope to hear from you
soon.
Take care.
