Ka Jun,
In response to your email below on item 2:
"2. On Dr.
Astillero's plan to run in the Senate in 2010, the PPP-ICC has never heard nor
discussed anything about that plan in the Council. As Bong Amora explained, Dr
Astillero may had been misquoted just like what happened to the news article
involving myself in the Inquirer article during the GFN Conference"
I would like you to know that I can categorically say that in fairness to Veron, Dr. Lito's political ambition is embedded to his blood since the days I knew him 10 years ago in Riyadh. I can say how he courted us, Ka Rashid and yours truly, to gain our endorsement in his political plan for party-list representative way back 2000. He was relentless in his invitation for a coffee talk somewhere around Riyadh to discuss his plans on his political ambition and you can ask him of these words "I am old enough and had reached the tip of everything except politics and he wanted to be elected or to win a seat in the Congress before he retires dahil ito na lang ang kulang sa mga medalya niyang natamo".
He will do everything he want, he will use everyone he want just to achieve his political ambition and I am sorry to know that you are on who believes he can, if not used to believe in him.
Ka Rashid and I knew him from toe to head, from his brain to heart – sorry to say he has no heart for OFWs in its real sense. OKOR din po ako (but I expelled myself from being one) – but the ideals of Rizal can be found in me.
Sir, better ask him who is he in his backyard (in Al-Mishari hospital) – do you know that all the employees of the hospital bears the cost of electrical consumption in the hospital provided accommodation? – at wala siyang nagawa na ipaglaban ito. Do you know also when one hospital staff filed the case at the Saudi Labor office regarding this issue and he won; the Labor office ordered Al-Mishari hospital to refund him SR. 15,000, but thanks to Dr. Lito's intervention – he convinced the poor hospital staff to accept Al-Mishari's offer of SR. 7,000 settlement – dahil kapag hindi raw niya ito tinanggap ay may masamang mangyayari sa kanya – kaya sabi ni Dr. – kung ako ikaw tanggapin ko na ang SR. 7,000 para walang masamang mangyari sa kanya at baka pera na maging bato pa… ito po ba ang uri ng lingkod-bayan na pwede nating pagkatiwalaan?
Bong Amora & Francis Oca said that he is also an active advocate of OAV – that is a blatant lie – ask the real OAV advocates – even Alex Bello can attest to the veracity of this statement.
Nasaan siya noong unang ilunsad ang unang-unang "Call to Action on OWWA re-structuring"? Ni ha ni ho – hindi kami nakatanggap ng pagsuporta sa kanya – Dr. Alex Ganapin (if he still alive) can attest to the truth of this statement.
This is a destructive to the very essence of your party's mandate so to say – many non-partisan like me will agree with me that what happened in your party's nomination of Dr. Lito is an affront to your party's political mandate and principles that you used in uniting other organizations to join PPP – Mr. Jojie Umali can say something about it – sorry in quoting your words.
Now, who is dividing OFWs – kami ba? Si Ka Mike Bolos ba? O ang mga self-serving OFW leader like Dr. Lito Astillero who cannot afford to give-way to a younger and well-meaning qualified generations of today – who is not willing to do a "Mike Bolos" supreme sacrifice for the sake of OFWs unity – whose political ambition is embedded entirely in him.
Please enlighten me if I am wrong….

for Manay Edna

I know what it feels like to be misquoted so I take
care in my job that I don't do that. Here, and in several other e-mails,
blogs, etc., I was told that I had misquoted Mr. Victor Barrios for saying that
he has set up a political party for the 2010 elections. I did not.
In this particular thread of this egroup, I guess I am also the one being
referred to for misquoting Mr. Jun Aguilar because I write for INQUIRER.net.
For the record, and repeating what I told Mr. Barrios when he called me up to
call my attention to the supposed misquote. Of the Global Filipino Nation
conference in Makati,
I never quoted him at all.
Please view article: http://archive.inquirer.net/view.php?db=1&story_id=135620,
where you will see that I quoted Mr. Aguilar and Mr. Bello on the establishment
of the PPP and the OAV respectively.
I hope this clears things up once and all, and stop the accusations that I
misquoted anyone.
Thank you very much.

Manay Edna

Dear Manay,
As the Chair of the PPP International Coordinating Council, I'm putting it upon
myself to clarify the issues you have raised which I believe is valid and
relevant.
1. PPP is just one among the many Political Parties who participated in the GFN
Conference. There is nothing that binds GFN & PPP except the implementation
of the Political Logframe which we got involved. While I myself is a founding
member of the Global Filipinos, Vic has made GFN's stance (of being apolitical)
from day one and we in PPP respects that. I likewise confirm that Vic is not a
member of the PPP but remains consistent in supporting any political party that
espouses good governance.
2. On Dr. Astillero's plan to run in the Senate in 2010, the PPP-ICC has never
heard nor discussed anything about that plan in the Council. As Bong Amora
explained, Dr Astillero may had been misquoted just like what happened to the
news article involving myself in the Inquirer article during the GFN
Conference.
Manay, you may have read Prof Ceasar's email's quoting the suggestion of Tita
Offie Bakker & Anita Sese-Schon for me to run for a National Post, even
Ellene, Meann and Mai are sometimes calling me Congressman. These are mere
opinions/joke of the Ladies and I respect them for that. However, I would like
to clarify that those comments/opinion does not enter my head seriously even
for a single second. Needless to say but I believe I know my size very well. I
never discussed nor mentioned to anyone of them that I'm interested or planning
to run for any elective post. The same could have happened to Dr. Lito
Astillero.
I hope I have made the subject clear and straight forward this time.
Cheers!
Jun
