Workshop context:

Series of workshops on Cat management on small islands working on in French and English. The idea of this series is to address several strategies to face the presence of cats on small islands, according to the context (if the island in inhabitated or not, if there are a lot of cats or just a few ones etc).

The series will be composed of 3 workshops. The first one speaking of how to raise awareness among people and inhabitants, how to limit the risks of introducting cats on an uninhabitated island, and how to limit cats impacts ; The second one addressing the case of « soft » technics, such as sterilization, trapping and moving towards the mainland ; and the last one addressing the most « extreme » technic which is eradication and the questions around it (mostly social acceptance).

The idea, for each workshop, is to have one expert of the subject (that could be the same for the three workshops) and 2 projects managers which could speak of the technics they implemented : how to implement them, what are the difficulties and the success criterias. At the end, we will produce a short document, guidelines, to summarize the most important things to know about the subject and the available technics, some advice on how to implement these technics, how to deal with difficulties, and how to increase chances of success.

We will ask the speakers to introduce the technics implemented (in concrete terms, how did they do), the encountered difficulties and their advice for a successfull implementation on other islands. Each workshop will last 1 hour, and will be held on April 11th, 18th and 25th. The chosen time so fare is 4 :00 PM French Time (UTC+2).
