All tickets for the SDHSAA state girls basketball tournaments are general admission and will be available for purchase at each tournament site. You could also buy tickets online for the Class A tournament here and for the Class B tournament here.
All high school, middle school, and elementary students are permitted to buy student tickets. Preschool through kindergarten children are admitted free. College students are considered adults for SDHSAA ticketing purposes.

Body concerns, dieting, and weight watching were examined in 30 year 10 adolescent girls. Semistructured interviews consisting of open-ended and rated questions assessed descriptions of and reasons for weight loss attempts, with an emphasis on noting sociocultural influences. Audiotaped and transcribed interviews were assessed for themes, coded and rated. Findings suggested a strong role of sociocultural influences leading to both unhealthy and healthy body attitudes and eating behaviors. Media and fashion were reported to exert the strongest pressures to be thin for subjects. While a few subjects reported direct pressures to diet from friends and parents, indirect social influences were more common. These influences included social comparison, joint dieting and avoidance of social disapproval.

Efforts to better understand and address the mental health needs of children and adolescents are essential to ensure their well-being. Even after accounting for adverse experiences such as low socioeconomic status, bullying and family problems, depression in youths has been linked to higher rates of future substance-use disorders, increased criminal activity, lower financial and educational achievement and worse health. Early identification and treatment are crucial.
Social media also has changed the way girls connect with each other. Screens have replaced face-to-face interactions; behind a screen, girls may be less careful with their comments, leading to bruised feelings and increased insecurity.
Schools need to prioritize programs and activities to promote mental health among students. Appropriate, evidence-based health education should be provided as well as substance-use prevention and treatment. To promote school connectedness, teachers should focus on topics that are interesting and relevant to students, encourage widespread participation in discussions, and show respect for differing viewpoints and backgrounds.
