Though many have much to say about how the Halloween franchise has reached its conclusion with Halloween Ends, people can at least agree with how it all wrapped up with the classic Blue yster Cult song (Don't Fear) The Reaper. It's not only a great song but also an homage to the first Halloween.

It has made its way to many films and shows as well as the beloved horror franchise. It was background music that helped out a pivotal scene, music that introduced or ended everything or covered by a character.

Meeting Bill Murray is already great enough, but nothing beats enjoying downtime with the actor as the undead continues to roam. The song makes a memorable appearance as well, having great use by setting the scene that would make any fan envious of Tallahassee and Wichita. They're certainly not fearing death that is outside the mansion as they smoke with Murray before recreating scenes from one of his films with another iconic song tied to it.

The Chucky series is one of the creepiest horror TV shows that's also excellent at showing there's no stopping this iconic horror villain. Jake Wheeler and his classmates attempt to stop his murderous ways in his hometown of Hackensack, New Jersey.

Lexy Cross is one of Chucky's potential victims. She first comes off as a mean girl with her harsh bullying and selfish attitude. However, there's more to her, showcased when with her sister Caroline. The song's use comes when the lyrics are part of a lullaby. It's brilliant because it not only adds depth to Lexy's character but is also a way to foreshadow the unaware threat that is Caroline's new doll.

Scream played a vital role in horror cinema with its meta-commentary on the slasher subgenre. It's enjoyable for horror fans and novices wanting to learn more as a masked killer stalks teens while spewing out trivia.

Sidney Prescott and her boyfriend, Billy Loomis, first appear as regular high school sweethearts doing their best to balance romance and adolescent hormones. Gus Black's cover of Don't Fear the Reaper sets their first scene together. The lyrics fit well here, detailing a morbid love story, and the relationship goes through plenty, including Billy taking on his own reaper role. Like with Chucky, the song brings a subtle use of foreshadowing.

Don't Fear the Reaper is covered by another group here. The Mutton Birds close out this tale with their rendition, as the lyrics once again fit well for the story. The film, though silly, has many stories connected to love and death. Spouses are lost, and love is found again after grief. The spirits here have personal journeys to go through as they also assure Frank that death isn't something to fear because it also has a purpose in life.

Don't Fear the Reaper is present for a brief but memorable scene as the final girl Laurie Strode spends time with her friend Annie, unaware of the evil following them. The song works as spooky foreshadowing, with death represented by the now iconic horror villain. He stalks his targets as though to say there is nothing to worry about for now since their end will come soon enough. The babysitters must enjoy life while they can.

The Stand was a miniseries adapted from the Stephen King novel. In a post-apocalyptic world, survivors are led by the personifications of good or evil. The premise is complex, with multiple characters and storylines, but the core of it all is a tale of destiny and human nature tested through difficult times.

Don't Fear the Reaper captures this as the theme song for the series, which was also one of King's inspirations for the novel. The song's dark meaning is well-used here as brave souls do their best not to succumb to the deadly virus while also trying to make the best out of the terrifying situation.

X tells the story of a group of adult filmmakers who travel to an elderly couple's farmhouse to shoot their latest movie. They get more than what they bargained for as the couple takes them down one by one. Upon first impression, X may appear as a standard slasher, but there is more to it due to its themes of time and the morbid fact that death is inevitable.

Don't Fear the Reaper captures this brilliantly as the woman of the couple indulges in her unfulfilled lust for life through bloodlust. Highlighted are the song's themes of love and death through the aging antagonists yearning for youth and living without regrets by disposing of those they believe are unworthy of it.

The conclusion to the series was summed up by Don't Fear the Reaper as it closed the movie, bringing fans back to 1978. Halloween Ends might not have been one of the best movies in the franchise, but the song stands out more here. It played a more standout role and used the lyrics and title to detail the film's tragic romance and let everyone know there's nothing to fear about this reaper now that he's finally gone.

The Winchester brothers are always on the lookout for monstrous threats in Supernatural. In this case, a near-death experience leads them to the Grim Reaper as he aids a preacher with his sick priorities.

Don't Fear the Reaper introduces this mysterious character with Sam's help as he describes this preacher who's taking lives to replace them with ones he feels are more worthy. The song is a morbid dose of irony since the reaper is a creepy being who people would very much fear. That is because there is no telling of what he'll do next regarding who will live and who will die.

Since 1975, Saturday Night Live has brought laughter out of audiences thanks to their live sketches showcasing absurd humor. More Cowbell was a perfect example of this, as it involved an overzealous Blue yster Cult member wanting to do his part in their now iconic song.

Many things helped to make this sketch what it was. There's the insistence of more cowbell by Christopher Walken's Bruce Dickinson and Will Ferrell's wild energy as the cowbell player in a tiny T-shirt. At its core is an appreciation of Don't Fear the Reaper and its dynamite sound. The idea that it can create comedy centering around a specific noise from it is so bizarre, yet it's enough to leave a mark in pop culture history.
