Cayuga Health System Sponsors Old Course Laps
At the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival
Watkins Glen, NY, August 24, 2016:
The hundreds of Stone Bridge Drivers roaring through the streets of Watkins Glen this fall will be representing the Grand Prix Festival’s newest sponsor—Cayuga Health System.
Nine classes of vehicles will take their turns running the original 6.6-mile road racing circuit on Friday, September 9, in the newly-named “Cayuga Health System Laps Of The Old Course.”
The Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival celebrates the history of Post-World-War-Two road racing in the United States; sports car racing took place on the streets and roads around Watkins Glen from 1948-1952. The Festival’s Stone Bridge Driver groups will take two Cayuga Health System Laps Of The Old Course—the same course used during the Street Racing Years.
This year, with Corvette as the featured marque, the Stone Bridge Drivers’ Tour de Marque will include a field of more than 100 Corvettes covering the Cayuga Health System Laps Of The Old Course; other Corvettes, old and new, will have prominent display at the Festival.
“Our Festival is very honored to welcome Cayuga Health System as a great new sponsor for 2016,” said Festival Chair Marianne Shoemaker. “Cayuga Health System is a major medical provider for the area. We’re proud to have this very significant support for an event that brings tens of thousands of people to our village where road racing began!”
“The Cayuga Health System is committed to continually partnering with the communities we serve,” said John Rudd, CEO of the Cayuga Health System. “Our dedicated employees take exceptional care of our patients, as we focus on enhancing and transforming patient care throughout the region.”
Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca and Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls are affiliates of the Cayuga Health System, serving the communities of Schuyler, Tompkins and Cortland Counties with highest quality of health-care providers and specialists.
The Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival is a production of Watkins Glen Promotions, Inc., a non-profit organization which supports community events and tourism in Schuyler County, New York.
