2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe
is the Grand Prize of the
2018 IMRRC Raffle.

~ Drawing will be Oct. 6 ~

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (May 15, 2018) - A pristine classic, an all-wheel drive Porsche Carrera 911 4S is the grand prize of the International Motor Racing Research Center's (IMRRC) 2018 raffle.

Two additional prizes have also been added to this year's fundraiser.

Second prize is a set of 4 tickets to any 2019 SVRA event in the United States and a $500 Visa Gift Card. Third prize is a 50” Samsung Flatscreen Television.

Tickets are now on sale at $60 for one or $100 for two. Only 3,000 tickets will be sold.

The winning tickets will be drawn at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, during the "RacetoberFest" celebration at the IMRRC. The event celebrates the 20th anniversary of the founding of the IMRRC as well as the 70 years of racing in Watkins Glen. The winner does not need to be present.
The annual raffle is a major fundraiser for the Racing Research Center, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Tickets also may be purchased by calling the Center at (607) 535-9044 or by emailing k...@racingarchives.org. A downloadable ticket order form can also be accessed at the Center’s website at http://www.racingarchives.org/2018car_raffle/

Additionally, IMRRC staff will be selling raffle tickets at various events this summer, including races at Watkins Glen International, where the car will be displayed.

The "Lapis Blue" metallic car is in brand-new condition and has 17,000 original miles. Its current value is $37,000. The SVRA tickets and the Samsung TV are valued at $1000 and $600, respectively.

In reference to the 911 Carrera 4S, Car and Driver in a May 2005 article said "A case can be made that the Porsche 911 is our favorite car." The article continues, "With the traditional hard ride of a pure sports car - it has very stiff springs and shocks and a lower ride height. The 911 was [our] universal choice as an in-town ride." "At our first visit to the track, we used judicious clutch slip and managed to get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and then turned a quarter-mile time of 13.1 at 108 [mph]."

The two-door, all-wheel-drive car has a six-speed manual transmission and a 3.6-liter, V6 DOHC 24 valve 315 horsepower motor.

The car's original upgrades include a natural brown leather interior, sun roof, rear center console, aluminum instrumentation dials and a three spoke steering wheel along with dark wood and leather cockpit trim.

Motor Trend in a November 2003 review stated, "Leave it to Porsche to create a little piece of heaven and call it the Carrera 4S. The updated 3.6-liter boxer engine is rich in power over the entire rev band, and feedback-through the steering, throttle, and shift lever-is spot on. What else would you expect from a $90,000 car?"

The Racing Research Center is an archival library dedicated to the preservation and sharing of the history of motorsports, of all series and all venues, through its collections of books, periodicals, films, photographs, fine art and other materials.
