Matt,
I think Glen Region Solo has always been known for having a lot of people who are willing and able to help. I suspect that the issue currently is finding someone who is willing to be in charge by being the Solo Chair.
The last thing I heard was that 2 people had stepped up to be Solo co-chairs. But I have not seen or heard anything since then relative to having any sort of a season this year. Now maybe things are moving along and I am just unaware.
If anyone knows what is actually happening, please share that news with the rest of us.

The SCCA national autocross returned to the Seneca Army Depot this past weekend. My son James tested the waters at the event about three years ago and finished mid-pack despite being in my uncompetitive (at the national level) Miata. This time around he showed up in THE Miata for autocross - a 1999 Sport model that all the top folks use. Well, except for those who use MR 2 (more about that later). So with his new-old Miata, some ridiculously wide autocross tires stuffed onto stock wheels, and your humble scribe pressed into service as his tire warmer he went to SeAD looking to improve a place or two over last time. Sixth or better the target.
Day One showed that though dad still can’t autocross anything other than a kart, the son knows how to drive a Miata. Third out of 13 in ES at the end of the day, the only Miata in the top six. Thoughts of glory, but the fast Toyotas wheeled by national level drivers were VERY close behind.
Day Two, after the rain washed out the track overnight, put him as the second car onto the still cold and damp track in the morning, with the top cars separated by less than a quarter of a second. It went back and forth to the last run. James uncorked a run that put him in second, only 28 thousands behind the leader. The leader, in an MR 2 running immediately behind him, responded with a run a second quicker - but with a cone. And so that’s where it ended. Second for the local boy - the only Miata in the top six filled with MR 2 Spyders. The Tire Warmer had no glory of his own on Day Two - his only cone for the two days coming at the last gate of the last run on what would have been his best run of the weekend. But he didn’t finish last. And his work did help get the family some contingency money from Mazda, that paid for some Fathers Day beer after the event.
Send your congrats to James. He did a great job. And let’s figure out how to get the band back together and have some fun this year before the summer is gone.
