Grand Prix Festival Friday and Glen Region SCCA Autocross #6 at Corning Community College Sunday, plus Zak Brown of McLaren in Town

Back to back: Glen Region SCCA Autocross Event #6 Sunday: Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival Autocross at Corning Community College
We are running this with the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival this year as one of their events - the Friday Festival will still be held the Friday after Labor Day, September 6th.
Sunday, September 8th. Come in main entrance to CCC, immediately go around roundabout to the left and head towards Commons and Administration building parking lot – turn left (you have no choice) into large lot . Paddock and registration are in that lot.
Schedule:
- 8 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Pre-registration check-in, registration, & Tech
- 9:30 a.m. Mandatory Drivers’ Meeting followed by a novice walk of the course
- 10:00 a.m. First Car Off
- Around noon Informal Lunch Break (time allowing)
- 1:00 p.m. Afternoon Runs Start
- 4:00 p.m. Clean up & awards!
- After event Aniello’s Pizza, Market Street Corning

Finger Lakes Region SCCA Region hosted one of their test and tunes on Saturday and Matt and Rob attended: Highly recommended for learning to go faster and plan for next year to go faster!
· FLR SCCA runs a ‘Test n’ Tune’ Saturday event before their Sunday autocross
· The course is the same each event. They paint where the cones go. So you can go back and try again on different weekend.
· Contains 3 elements that occur often in any autocross course up to the National level.
· Excellent on-site, free, friendly instruction by drivers who are competitive at national level.
· Lots of runs and great instruction: You learn how to learn to go faster. Stop guessing!
· Plan for next year – check the FLR schedule at: www.flr-scca.com – they typically run ‘Test n’ Tunes’ the Saturday before their Sunday autocross events.
Major upcoming events at the International Motor Racing Research Center:
1. Dinner with Zak Brown. Yes, that Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Automotive, McLaren Formula 1 team, and Arrow McLaren Indycar team.

Glen Region SCCA Autocross Event #7 this Sunday October 5th: Spencercrest Nature Hike Autocross at Corning Community College: Jake and Tim are your event co-chairs
Sunday, October 5th. Come in main entrance to CCC, immediately go around roundabout to the left and head towards Commons and Administration building parking lot – turn left (you have no choice) into large lot . Paddock and registration are in that lot. Watch for deer by the Houghton Land Preserve hiking area just before the College.
Different procedures for this event:
1. The Paddock Lot has been very recently repaved and is curing, which is good for us for the future. We need to be very careful not damage the new pavement as it cures. Trailers need to be parking in the overflow lot above with old pavement. No jacks, jack stands, tire irons, or anything heavy or metal to be resting on the new pavement to prevent damage.
2. Speed limit is 15 MPH in the campus. Slower in the paddock around people and to be easy on the new pavement.
3. Respect the speed limit going down Spencer Hill Road into Corning, so neighbors do not complain to the College.
NO EXCEPTIONS. PLEASE RESPECT THE COLLEGE AS THEY HAVE BEEN GOOD TO US FOR DECADES. Thanks!

Due to the Wineglass Marathon - the majority of those will be hard to get due to crowds and road blockages except maybe Aniello’s, Evergreen Chinese, or Byrne Dairy. Best shot for parking is two Corning City lots behind Radisson Hotel or the one across the street near the river or Byrne Dairy. Expect it to be very busy… or bring a lunch or snacks. The Wineglass Marathon races attract at least 10,000 runners, spectators, and volunteers. Most of Wegmans to mid-Market Street is closed off for the runners to finish and recover with many spectators.
I will bring 15 Hot Dogs and Chips to grill, first come, first served.
