Subject: Re: [cahgc] Re: {Glenberg Aviators} Launch maintenance at SLP
Hi Ross,
so far the fixing of the slp launch has come to R9500, which includes the bags, sand, nails, grass and labour.
To fix up, reinforce and extend the front part has not been calculated precisely yet because there are several options which will affect the costs.
We figured gabians will be the most permanent solution but this could get pricey.
The guys who are selling curios at the launch (Sam et al) did most of the labour so far and they are willing to pack the gabians also, their rates are to be negotiated with them.
If we can source materials (rocks etc) to pack in the gabians and use Sam et al to pack it does not have to be that costly though, but it will need someone to drive it.
I think we should do it asap while the motivation is high.

While it has not been extended in any way, the main section has been built up and had new grass laid on top. This won't make a huge difference to paragliders launching other than provide more even footing, but improves the safety for hanggliders dramatically as it allows the pilot to keep the wingtips clear of the ground while launching. Please treat the new grass with due care and help preserve the surface. Hopefully we can all enjoy the fruits of their labour into the future.Professionally assessed plans to extend the takeoff area by use of gabions have also been drawn up, but funding is needed to make this happen (the CAHGC is willing to commit funds if they can be matched). Anyone keen to take this forward should contact the club.Have fun and stay away from the edges of the sky,R--Dr Ross Hofmeyrwild...@gmail.comro...@wildmedix.comwww.wildmedix.comTel: +2784 54 99259Skype: wildmedic?Semper Paratus?--You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Glenberg Aviators Club" group. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to glenberg-aviators...@googlegroups.com.For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout.--Eugene Claase+27 79 935 7770--You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Glenberg Aviators Club" group. To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to glenberg-aviators...@googlegroups.com.For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout.
