WOOD FIRING WORKSHOPS

Beginning February, 2009, and continuing on approximately a monthly
basis, Bruce Bowers, www.bowerswoodfireandpics.com will offer Wood
Firing Workshops at Monocacy Pottery in Thurmont, Maryland,
www.monocacypottery.com.
This is about an hour's drive from Washington DC.
We will start with an introductory session in my studio in Kensington,
MD (or a phone conference with people from outside the area). This
session will cover the best types of forms for wood firing, suggested
clays, and a presentation of fired pots that make use of the glazes,
slips, and stains that we will provide.
A month later, you will bring about 20 of your bisqued pots (maximum
12"h.) to a beautiful rural kiln site and we will glaze pots and load
the kiln. The next day we will fire. Two days later, we will unload
and discuss the work.
The cost is $225/person and participation is limited to 8 intermediate
to advanced potters.
All glazes, wadding, wood, and kiln usage is included and we will fire
in a Manibigama kiln. This is a design created by John Thies and Bill
VanGilder and produces beautiful resullts.
Please see the contact info on my web page and call or email for dates
and more details.
Bruce Bowers
