Firsttime questioner, so please bear with me. My office uses a networked Kyocera Copystar 3551ci multi-function copier/printer. I upgraded my mid-2011 MacBook Pro to Yosemite when it was first released and have done all updates -- currently at 10.10.1. Additionally, before going on vacation I was using the most recent TaskAlfa 3551ci driver (released for Mavericks) and all was working fine. Returned to work yesterday after a month -- tried to print and my MacBook could not connect to the printer. I checked the Kyocera driver download support page, and sure enough there was a new Mac driver (released 12/3). I downloaded and installed it, but the printer still would not connect -- in System Preferences it had the "yellow light." After several attempts I deleted the printer intending to re-add it, but now in System Preferences the printer is not detected at all. Does anyone have any clue as to how to remedy this? I did all the standard things -- reboot printer, reboot MacBook, etc. I am not in my office today, but will try calling Kyocera tech support tomorrow. However, my last experience with them regarding printing from a Mac was less than stellar -- the tech support person I spoke with had no clue how to do anything on a Mac, and neither did anyone else he tried to consult. So I'm hoping someone here has had a similar experience and found a solution. (By the way, I have a small inexpensive Canon inkjet printer as a backup on the same network, and it works just fine. Also co-workers were not having any problems printing to the Kyocera.) Thank you!

For the printer to be visible in the Default view when you select to add a printer, the device has to support an advertising protocol such as Bonjour. There are many office multifunction printers that don't support this protocol. If it does support Bonjour, then there are users who upgraded to Yosemite that have found that Bonjour is not working and thus cannot see the advertised printer. The workaround is to add the printer manually and to do this you must determine what IP address the printer has. This can often be found via the control panel of the copier.

Once you have the IP address, then open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add. With the Default view displayed, click the IP icon. Enter the IP address of the copier and change the protocol to HP Jetdirect-Socket. Leave the Queue blank and change the Name from the IP address to something you prefer, such as Kyocera Copystar. Leave the Location blank and then in the Use menu, browse for the 3551ci driver. With this information set, click the Add button to complete the printer creation and then see if you can print again.

Have an issue with setting up job accounting for Kyocera networked multi-functional printer. The only codes available are preset in a drop-down list from 0000000 to 0000030 and cannot enter a 4 digit code when trying to print from both Safari or Textedit.

Downloaded MAC print driver version 20190624 (the only one available) from download center and installed. Printer installed via ip address and chosen the corresponding driver (Kyocera Taskalfa 3551ci - KDPL).

If you're using the network connection to this scanner, then you don't need to install any Kyocera drivers. However, you might need to make sure your firewall is configured to allow VueScan to talk to your scanner.

AirPrint is a technology built into most popular printer models, including those listed here. With AirPrint technology, it's easy to print full-quality photos and documents from your Apple device. AirPrint features include easy discovery, automatic media selection, and enterprise-class finishing options.

The printers, print servers, and USB-only devices listed here are provided by each manufacturer and updated regularly by Apple. If you don't see your model, check with the manufacturer for more information.

To use AirPrint, you don't need to install an app, additional drivers, or other software. Just connect the AirPrint printer to your Wi-Fi network, then choose it in the print dialog when you print from your Mac or print from your iPhone or iPad, for example.

Similar to AirPrint printers, these USB devices allow you to print or scan without having to install additional drivers. Because they require a USB connection, they support driverless printing or scanning only from Mac computers.

The printer driver is responsible for communicating with your computer. Drivers often become outdated or incompatible with your system after an upgrade. Or you may have accidentally installed an incorrect driver and this can cause the printer to malfunction.

There are some instances where your printer fails to clear its queue. If you encounter a paper jam or your printer configuration has been set up incorrectly, the system will not consider the print job done. And if you attempt to print again, the previous job that was halted will not make way for the new job and you will receive an error message like the one below:

First, start by opening the print queue and click directly on the status message to take you there. You will likely notice that multiple jobs are stuck and they all have an Error notification.

If your printer is connected via a network, then a standard TCP/IP port must be configured with a valid IP Address programmed. The IP address must then match with the same IP that has been programmed on your device.

Alternatively, if the driver is set up via a server queue, you may be limited to making changes to the print driver as this is controlled by the network administrator, you may then need to contact your internal network department in this case.

Hi,

When I print to the network printer in the office it is printing very slow. It lasts a long time before the print job has been sent to the printer, after sending the print job to the printer it lasts a very long time before the printer prints. It prints page 1 and than I have to wait 2 minutes before the second page prints.

Version of adobe reader is 9.1.

Can someone help me with this issue?

I am desperate.

I have a user who is seeing this very same problem, but with Acrobat Pro 9. The problem just started when he upgraded his apps to the CS4 versions. He completely uninstalled all of his Adobe products and then reinstalled them, but the problem persists. He is running Mac OS 10.5. Whenever he tries to print a pdf, the computer hangs while spooling. The Force Quit menu says Adobe stops responding, but it will eventually print after a very long time. When it does start to print, it only prints about one page per minute. This is happening on two networked HP printers, a LaserJet 4250 and 4350. I tried to print as image and that speeds it up somewhat, but it is still very slow. I also turned off the RAM Disk setting on the printer, but that didn't help. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent! Glad to hear it. If this works for others I'd appreciate hearing about it. I may have to deploy this setting change to 1000's of PC's at my company and I'd like more evidence that it works and doesn't cause other problems.

I'm actually getting this same issue. I have a Ricoh C4500, I'm running Windows 2003 Server, with the printer shared (All other printers on this server print PDF's just fine). I'm running Windows 7 Pro, 4GB RAM, i7 (Dell E6410). I've unchecked all options except "Let printer determine colors". It sits at 64kb / 237kb and takes about 2 - 3 minutes per page to print. I made the same selection and added "Print as Image" and it sat at 64kb / 3.11Mb. Still same issue. I've recreated the port on the server, I've deleted the old printer and readded it from scratch. I've tried PCL5, PCL6, PS Driver, PS Universal (which locked up the printer properties page and I had to remove and recreate a new printer setup), I've tried C4500 Universal drivers, HP Universal Drivers and it's still not working.

P.S. We did get it working once, on a local machine I copied a local driver PCL5 onto the machine and mapped the printer. It did print. However in trying to put the Win 2003 Server driver on the server for PCL5, no change and no go. Then I put the shared printer back up and no changes. Thanks ahead of time!

I get this problem with one specific PDF printing from Windows 7 to a Toshiba eStudio 451c. It is 134 pages so I'd expect total printing time to be a while but this is taking 2-3 minutes per page, that is actually printing the page takes seconds but it sits and 'thinks' between each page. I've tried the above changes and selecting gray scale, still takes the same amount of time.
