TheMinitab License Manager is required for Multi-User Desktop installation configurations. Selecting the option below that corresponds with your Operating System will download a compressed file that includes two installation files, one for English and one for other languages.
Important Note for Multi-User Installations: Before updating to Minitab Workspace, you should first verify you have the latest version of the License Manager. If you plan to mass deploy utilizing a software asset management tool, please download the Minitab Workspace Mass Deployment Package.
We recommend that you try the cloud version of Minitab first, but if you need to install Minitab on your personal Windows computer, follow the steps below. Note: Minitab is not available for Macs or Chromebooks, use the cloud version or log into our Virtual Lab instead.
4. After launching Minitab for Windows, enter your full @
ewu.edu email address when prompted to Sign In. Press Next and login with your EWU Username and SSO password. If you are unable to login, please contact the IT Help Desk at or
help...@ewu.edu
Step 3: Make sure that the unzipped Minitab installation file and unzipped license file are in the same directory or Desktop. After the installation don't delete or move to a different location the Minitab license file.
Siena Heights University students, faculty, and staff can utilize Minitab, software used for data analysis and statistics, on or off-campus starting this year. With our annual renewal of the software, Minitab now offers a web version and a downloadable Windows desktop version of their software free to all members of the SHU community. To access your Minitab account, visit this link or look for an email from Minitab sent earlier this year.
Minitab now supports accessing the statistical program through a new web app made available to SHU. The web application has many of the same features you may be familiar with and now includes direct OneDrive support, allowing for quick saving and loading from your Siena Heights University cloud storage. If you utilize a MacOS device or Linux-based machine, you will need to use the web application. Minitab discontinued support for all non-Windows platforms in early 2021.
To access the web app, visit
app.minitab.com and enter your full SHU email address. You will not be able to use social media logins on this page. Once you enter your email address and click Next, you will need to sign in through Office.com if you are not logged in already. After signing in successfully, access to the web application and account settings will be given.
Minitab currently maintains a Windows desktop application of Minitab. Starting in 2021, the MacOS version was deprecated, leaving only the Windows app and web-based app available to use. This application is free to download for all SHU students, staff, and faculty, and can be found after signing in to the Minitab website with your SHU credentials. Minitab only supports 64-bit versions of Windows, and suggests 32-bit platforms utilize the web application instead.
Minitab provides a comparison chart between the web application and the Windows desktop application. Once all features of the Desktop application are integrated to the web version, Minitab will discontinue any downloadable form of their software, opting instead to be fully web-based.
Python has gained popularity because it offers a general-purpose programming language that is relatively easy to learn, complete with a vast range of libraries and packages that are developed and freely shared by the Python community.
Minitab Statistical Software is an analytics program designed to give everyone access to reliable, easy to understand analytics in a few clicks - with no coding required. Its Python integration allows the user to run Python scripts from the desktop program of Minitab Statistical Software, when additional visualizations, tasks, or analysis are required. Python scripts can be created to perform most of the data analysis tasks or generate graphs and visualizations directly from the user's input.
We could do this manually, but that process is slow and there are limitations on how many variables can be downloaded at one time. So, we will use the power of our tools to automate this with data scrapping!
The aim is that by using Minitab and Python together, "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"! We will generate dependable, up-to-date analysis and visualizations through automation with Python scripts.
The Python script can be extended to show the rate of cases by local authority, and used to track trends and spread across neighborhoods. Geo-mapping is not yet available in Minitab, so the integration allows such visualizations to be included in a Minitab project.
2. An interactive sunburst chart: This type of chart is mostly useful for visualising hierarchical relationships of data. Chart shows the percentage of the eligible population who have received vaccinations, and monitors progress on first and second covid-19 inoculations.
Today you can use Minitab Statistical Software as either a desktop program or an online SaaS application ('Software-as-as-Service') in your browser. At this time, the Python integration is only available with the desktop version.
You can use the Anaconda distribution, which is easy to install on a Windows machine. Anaconda aims to provide everything you need from Python for data science in an 'out of the box' package. This includes a number of its most-often used 3rd party libraries.
To make sure communication between Minitab and Python is less temperamental, we recommend running Minitab in an Anaconda environment. However, this is optional as the default Python installation also works.
This article shows the process of installing Minitab 21 software on a personal Windows computer for employees and students. Software install files can be obtained from
gateway.ufv.ca by following the steps below:
Regardless of statistical background, Minitab empowers all parts of an organization to predict better outcomes, design better products, and improve processes to generate higher revenues and reduce costs. Only Minitab offers a unique, integrated approach by providing software and services that drive business excellence from anywhere with the cloud.
Faculty & Staff: All faculty and staff must request access to the software before it is available for use in the online web version or the desktop version installed in computer labs. Please submit a Software Request for University Devices so we can assign you a license. This only needs to be done once and does not need to be repeated every semester.
On PC computers, including those in MSU Denver campus labs, you can launch the application from the Start menu. The application will then ask you to login using your MSU Denver credentials. For Mac or Chromebook, a web version of Minitab is available at
app.minitab.com.
Faculty may request a free license from the IT Help Desk for their university-barcoded machine. Limited licenses are available and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Faculty licenses are valid for the year the license is requested.
Instructors teaching a course using Minitab may request a free classroom license from the IT Help Desk. Classroom licenses are valid for one semester. The instructor and students registered for the course will each be assigned a license for Minitab that will allow them to install the software on university-barcoded and/or personal devices while their license is active.
Faculty who have been issued a Minitab license for their university-barcoded computer may install a copy of the software on a personal device as long as the application is not used on both machines at the same time.
Students registered for a UNLV course that uses Minitab may qualify for a license. Student licenses are valid per semester. Students issued a license will receive their access information from the instructor of the UNLV course approved to use Minitab.
Minitab utilizes a Named User model. This means that everyone using Minitab will be required to have an account setup prior to each semester. Students who are enrolled in courses which utilize Minitab will be granted free access to GRCC's Minitab licensing. This access is granted for the entirety of a semester so long as the student stays enrolled in a pre approved course. Access will be granted before the end of the first day of classes and removed after finals week has concluded.
Only students who are enrolled in the following courses are eligible for this benefit. If your course is not listed in this table, and you believe it should be, please have the Director of your department email IT to have a course added.
Am I allowed to install the software on a personal computer? Yes! One of the great things about named user licensing is that it allows you access to Minitab from anywhere, whether you decide to use the desktop version (Windows Only) or the web version.
What if I enrolled in a course after the start date? Users are imported on Fridays for the first two weeks of each semester. If you need access sooner, please send an email to
itsu...@grcc.edu and we will get you added as soon as your enrollment is confirmed.
If I drop my course, can I still keep my Minitab access? No. Students who drop from the pre approved course lists will have their access removed. Queries are run throughout the semester to verify all students with access remain enrolled. This is to ensure the college stays compliant with the licensing requirements.
