Hello, I have some recurring expenses that I am trying to map out in a calendar. I have attempted to transfer it from excel to outlook and use their calendar but it would not transfer. If you guys could either help me get it transfered into outlook to use their calendar or to generate a calendar in excel with the data either would work perfectly fine.
@mdockter Please see attached file. It's based on one of many Calendar templates available on-line. This particular one (Family Event Planner) came up a while ago in this forum in connection when a runner wanted to use it to plan a training schedule for a marathon. The original template wasn't very useful, so I changed it around a bit so that it would display the actual event(s) for the day, rather than just state that "Something is due today".
The spreadsheets all have very specific formats which must be keep intact (basically they are scorecards with conditional formatting built on a rat's nest of calcs). An example of one of these scorecards is included below.
I'm hoping to create PDFs of each one of these monsters and send to various distro lists while maintaining the exact structure of each section of the individual worksheets. If I use a Render tool, I believe I'll need to create a table to input into the tool which will wreck the structure I need to maintain. Hopefully that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to try and clarify. Thanks all!
first off - I don't think there's a straight forward way to do what you are doing. If I had to do it - I'd use a VBA script like this - =nTvUv5Alwec. I'd use Alteryx to modify the script if needed and for tracking fo filenames/locations/sheets.
Thanks @Amy_smart for the recommendation on the other thread with a similar issue; I don't think this will work for me due to the very structured nature of the tabs.
@apathetichell, I'm going to give your method a try; it's not something I've done before so it'll be interesting to poke around and see if I can get it to work. But yeah...the way it's put together currently is a cluster. Thanks to both of you!
I created a workflow and macro to convert XLSX files to PDF; the process convert all the sheets in the Excel files to PDFs, the output is by each sheet's print area (unfortunatelly) the VBS script could be customised to activate whatever sheet in the Excel file being process (no implemented) the conversion from Excel to PDF takes around 30 seconds, this could depend on the size of the Excel file involved, and you can as many Excel files to the Text Input tool; I did not try entering full path file locations, and still you should take into account reaching those files if the workflow is published to the server.
If I have an xlsx file called "InputTemplate" located at C:\Bren\SpreadsheetInput and this file contains three sheets ('HealthServices'; 'CommunityNetwork'; and 'TechServices') how would I go about setting this up to work with the macro? Also, if I wanted a pdf for each complete sheet (instead of a select print area) how would that be accomplished?
This workflow works fine on your workstation, but it will have difficutlies if deployed to the Alteryx Server because we hardcoded the Excel files it process, the workflow may need to be converted to an Analytic Application.
I have a date column in Excel that contains dates in the numerical format (for example 42349 would be 12/11/2015). I have tried parsing or changing the format of the column but Alteryx does not support this kind of a date and generates a null value when operated upon.
I am trying to automate the process of preparing a model so changing th format of the date in Excel is not an option. Also, the data exceeds 1 million rows so Excel won't support it either. How can change this to a date format?
If you put in any number > 0 in Excel and change the format to "Short Date" or any of the other date formats, it wil convert it to a date using the definition above. Hope this is what you were asking for. Thanks!
There is a slight amendment needed to that date conversion module you posted. You need to minus 2 off the number provided by Excel, due to the issue with 29th Feb 1900 and the inclusiveness of the start/end dates. (1900-01-01 is day 1 not day 0, and 1900 was not a leap year but excel calculates it wrongly).
My problem is, that I have my data in an excel file. My perhaps (silly) simple question is, how can I read an xls-file (xls-reader node) and convert it to a table format, which can be read then from the Network learner.
any Reader nodes reads data in KNIME as KNIME data table. The Table Reader node reads file which was created with Table Writer node. Those two nodes use KNIME internal format which results in faster I/O. Hope this clarifies things a bit
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the "simulate arbitriry signal" function to simulate a ground motion. When I define signal here, it can only read lvm format file. I wondered if there's anyway I can convert an excel file or txt file into lvm format so that I can use this function?
I'm trying to use the attached vi to input a groundmotion so that I can simulate an earthquake using a shake table. However the function I'm using, "simulate arbitrary signal express vi", only read lvm file.
I was trying to generate the signal from the data but failed. So I went back to trying to use the simulate arbitrary signal function. I wrote a vi that's suppose to convert the excel file to a lvm file. And attached is the generated lvm file that seems wrong. Can you help me to look at the read_signal vi? Thanks a lot.
Excel is a Microsoft Office product that writes "Excel Files", files in a somewhat proprietary format that have the extension .xls or .xlsx. You are dealing with a "comma-separated variable", or .csv, file that (again, by "default") Microsoft uses Excel to open and edit, but it is not an Excel file, but rather a 2D array of (usually numeric) data separated by a character, usually a comma.
-I tried to create a table in confluence and then paste the cells from excel into it because I've seen a lot posts saying that should work. But anytime I tried to paste the cells they pasted into confluence as an image. I made sure I wasn't copying as a picture in excel but it still didn't work. I really hoped this method would be the one but it wasn't.
Can you let me know what version of Confluence you are on?
I am on Confluence Server 6.6.3 and I also use the excel office macro. When I edit, it does indeed open excel for me to do the edits in externally, but it automatically updates the file I have uploaded too. there isn't a need for the manual step of save and then re-upload. I can just save.
I tried using the macro again and this time saving worked fine, so I'm not sure what the problem was last time. Now when I try to use the macro in a different page though, it can't find the file even though it's definitely attached. I'm not sure what's going on there.
Ah! yes! I've been tricked by that too, when I was in a hurry. I should have remembered to mention that. Glad you were able to sort it out. I'll add that to my troubleshooting notes, to remind others with the same troubles.
Is the requirement to convert the spreadsheet into a native Confluence table? The reason why I ask is because you tried the excel macro. If a Confluence table is is not a requirement, you can always import the file into a file list and keep it a spreadsheet.
It's not a requirement to use a native confluence table. I would use the excel macro but it stopped working for some reason on every page I try it on apart from my first test page. Even when the file is attached the macro can't find it, so I'm not exactly sure how to proceed.
Not being able to copy paste data into Confluence Table from Excel. I mean seriously?? How essential would it be for everyone. I mean you must be trying hard to get people to stop using your application.
@Lajos_Fidy The add-on Table Filter and Charts for Confluence is a must if your doing any sort of tabling within the application. You won't get much functionality (table wise) out of the box with Confluence.
Thanks for the suggessions, not really looking to buy paid addons, I just want the basic functionality of inserting row and column data into a table. Also not working with big tables, I just want to document some database table structures (MAX 50X5 fields), which are just too big to insert field by field. It just boggles my mind that such simple, essential funcionality has been REMOVED from Confluence, and as a result a 1 minute job turns into a 15 minute job, multiply it with the number of database objects (around 100), it takes aways 1400 minutes of my (or someone else's, as im not gonna do it like this) time.
I'm not sure if this was just luck on my part, but I was able to paste content from Excel into Confluence Cloud as a table by first converting my Excel selection to a table (select your data -> Insert -> Table).
Hi, I think I can help you with an app available for Confluence called Excellentable. It allows you to have a fully functional, exportable spreadsheet right inside Confluence. So, instead of using a Confluence table, you can put your data into Excellentable and export it to display perfectly in Excel. You can also import an Excel file to display in Confluence!
I am wondering if its possible convert an excel file with multiple sheets in it to .xpt format. I could not find any information online. Any leads about the convertion from excel (with multiple sheets) to xpt format?
