Glasses addiction!

I am having a terrible time restraining myself from buying tons of
glasses online. Is anyone else having this problem? I received 2
orders from Zenni (a total of 10 pairs of glasses) and out of the 10,
only one pair is really unwearable for me... and only because I got a
10% green tint out of curiosity and I really hate it, plus that
particular frame doesn't suit my face well. But the other 9 are
perfect, including one pair of sunglasses, and they are a range of
styles and sizes. My prescription is spot on in every single pair, no
complaints at all! I have recently placed another order for 3 more
pairs and am sitting here now contemplating even yet another order for
another 3 or 4. I am addicted, this is terrible!

I also have received orders from Goggles4U (2 pairs, one is alright
but I don't think they look great on me, and the lenses are much
thicker than my standard lenses on the Zenni pairs, and the other I am
awaiting a replacement because they messed up the prescription), and
one pair from 39dollarglasses that I had to send back because they did
not apply the AR coating (still waiting on those).

As far as price goes, Zenni just cannot be beat for my needs. The
$4.95 AR coating and $4.95 flat shipping fee are awesome, the quality
of the frames is fantastic (I only got full rim plastic frames so I
can't comment on the others), and their standard lenses are thin
enough in plastic frames to not bother me at all (one lens is +4.50
for me). 39dollarglasses is by far the most expensive that I went
with and I was very disappointed in the frame quality (uneven, flimsy)
and the fact the pricey AR coating was not even applied. I also
shelled out for high index lenses AND had to pay a hefty resurfacing
fee.

I know I need to stop buying, but I can't help myself. There are
still frames I love at Zenni (must have one in every color!), and I
have my eye on some from Eye Buy Direct as well. I think I need to
sit myself and my bank account down in the corner for a time out!

Yes, I share your problem. A possible solution is to post more
messages here about glasses, because all the time you spend posting is
just that much less time you spend ordering more glasses.

I can relate to your problem, I just recieved my ninth pair of
glasses! I just love the freedom of being able to afford different
colors and styles that I can't help myself. Besides, everytime I check
the online stores a new style/color has come out that I must have ;)

Hello. My name is powrwrap and I too, am a spectacle-aholic. It all
started one day after I read in the Minneapolis Star Tribune about
this guy Ira Mitchell that found a way to buy glasses inexpensively
online. One thing led to another and so I was.... :-)

Anyway, I've only got 3 pairs of eyeglasses so far but I'm ready to
order a set of sunglasses from Zenni.

I don't yet have much intuition about what frames are suitable for
sunglasses. I'm trying Zenni's 4190 "A modified Aviator style
full-rim frame, with a more solid feel" at 80% green for $8+$5.

I know the feeling but I haven't gone mad like you yet. :)

I have my impulse under control for the moment.

I am waiting for my 2nd order from Zenni which I hope to arrive this
week.

Since you have ordered many times from Zenni, what were the delivery
times, from placing to receiving the order, for you? Just curious.

I may place another for computer glasses from Zenni, but I am in no
hurry at the moment.

Hah! Well I saved myself from my last order by keeping the window
open for a day before submitting it. I ended up not putting it
through, so maybe I'm one step closer to recovery?

Gee you are making me feel better I only ordered 4 pair and got the
one pair my vision insurance covers. I justified my getting so many
because my rx changed so much that it was better to have a few rather
than 1. I stopped because I see the Doctor again in May and she may
change my rx again. But now my dauhgter has ordered 2 pair from Zenni
I can feed my addiction thru her. I may ask for a pair for mothers day
from her.

There we go with the aviators again.

You could wear those with your leisure suit.

If you're under 65, Try Zenni 4619, 4243

Though I wasn't around here back then, I did read over
the previous discussion about whether aviators are in again,
or out again, or ... Very amusing. But I'm not under 65, so
I guess they're okay for me?

Yes indeed! I've managed to amass 8 pairs of regular glasses, two
pair of sunglasses in the last several months. All beginning with a
traumatic event -- breaking a pair of allegedly titanium rimless
glasses at Thanksgiving last year, at the bridge. I only knew about
39$ glasses, but an idle google got me Glassy Eyes . . . and another
pair of rimless glasses from Taiwan . . . then Zenni glasses with
sparkles & plaid . . . even rose-colored lenses! I love it.

I do try to wait until one order has arrived before ordering again,
but it's a constant temptation. I look forward to seeing if there are
any new pictures on the glassy eyes flickr group, too.

Just call me Elton . . . =)

IMQ, each order I've placed so far has taken exactly 2 weeks to reach
me. I'm in the Northwest, if it matters.

I just got glasses from Zenni ordered 9 days before (Apr 8 - Apr 17).
That's from California to Hawaii.

Hi everyone,

I got my 2nd order from Zenni on 4/16/08, 9 days total (4/7 -04/16).
It was actually 1 day quicker than the 1st order (3/14 - 3/24).

And I'm from Georgia-USA, just to give an idea where the package was
delivered.

Since Zenni's address on the package is in California, my guess is
that glasses from Zenni's orders are made somewhere, then shipped in
bulk to Zenni in CA, which then is individually repackaged to ship per
customer's order. If Zenni has their orders filled in Hong Kong or
somewhere not in USA, then I would say they have a pretty quick turn
around time.

My order from Optical4Less took 3 weeks. From the look of the package,
it traveled directly from Hong Kong to USA, then USA to me via USPS.

while cleaning out a closet that I am ashamed to say got stuffed fast
with anything I was not sure where to put it when I moved in a few
years ago I stumbled over an old pair of bifocal sunglasses. They were
huge! They were ugly! Don't go aviator or with a lens height larger
than 32 its big enough. You could also get those magnet glasses I got
a pair and really like them.

Originally, I ordered one pair from zenni and 1 from goggles4u to
test the waters . Now, I have received 3 more pairs from zenni
because the 1st pair were so good . At these prices I can't help but
try out new styles ; something I could never do if I were to buy them
at optical retailers .

Well, it's too late, since I had already ordered the
aviators with lens height 42. My idea was that the
height would keep reflected sun glare from coming
up under the glasses. If they don't work out, <sigh> I'll
just have to order more.

That's one of the reasons WHY aviators are so tall.  That, and the huge lenses provide an extremely large viewing angle.

All the arguments about style aside, there is a lot to be said for big lenses, and aviators specifically.

Hopefully your new glasses will work for you...
