I am about to get a pair of drivewear glasses. Do I need an AR
coating? Isn't it already comes with it?

I have been using Drivewear sunglasses for about a year. I am a bit
vague on remembering the details, but I don't think I ordered anything
"extra". They are polarized which really helps and the REALLY reduce
the eyestrain in glaring situations. And they do work in cars and get
very dark on snow and in high altitude hiking. I wish they went a
tiny bit more yellow/lighter when its relatively dark. but thats
because I push the limits by using them as my only pair of glasses
when hiking or mtn biking and that includes cloudy days and high
contrast deep forest.

A question I have is where did you find Drivewear for ordering
online? I thought I was stuck buying Drivewear lenses at brick and
mortar, which is a real bummer. ...and VERY expensive. I have been
looking for online availability with no luck.

I have never heard the term "Drivewear." Can someone please explain
what the difference between sunglasses and drivewear is? I currently
have two pair of sunglass with a gray 80% tint and was going to get
another pair. If Drivewear is so much better, maybe I should get a
pair.

Thom:

Do you ever wear your Drivewear glasses for driving at night?

I'm wondering if oncoming headlights on a two lane road would cause
them to darken.

By the way, 39dollarglasses.com carries drivewear.

Drivewear is available on line from http://www.39dollarglasses.com.
There is not
any mention of it in the their "Product Info / About our lenses" . It
is listed
under the ordering section when you get to the "select lens" package.
It is package XC for single vision & XKC for bifocal lens. There is a
$89-99
upgrade fee for these lenses.

I think drivewear is a bit dark for night time use. I do wish it went
a tiny bit lighter OR a tiny bit more yellow for darker use.
That being said, I have been known to do long drives home from hikes
where it starts light and is dark by the time I get home, and I end up
not trying to swap glasses in mid drive, and its really not a hazard
or problem.
I don't think the oncoming lights are a significant issue, just as
driving from bright sun into a dark parking garage doesn't plunge you
into blindness like a dark tint pair of sunglasses.

The Drivewear does tint in the sun in the car, but it doesn't seem to
get quite as dark as being out in blazing sun on a snowfield or
something. But I find its plenty dark for driving, especially with
the polarizing effect to cut glare.

I really feel they are overall one of the better compromises for ALL
around use. But note...I said compromise. Just a TINY bit lighter/
yellower at the light end would be perfection. IMHO

YMMV

You have several places where you can order drivewear online.
39dollarglasses is the cheapest one.
http://www.eyeglasslensdirect.com/ also has it.

I ordered one from 39dollarglasses with AR coating on the backside
only using the new $20 discount coupon.
