Got my order of 6 pairs of single vision glasses. Used the cheapest
models at $8 each. Order placed on Jan 1st and was shipped via
international express mail from Hong Kong, arriving to the USA east
coast on Jan 30. Postage was 107 HK$ posted on the package (about US$
14 just for the postage!), and declared value for customs was 300 HK$.
All seems to be fine. Did email the lab directly after 2 weeks to ask
about the order and got answer stating it has been shipped after 2
email exchanges with them (used email: zennilan at gmail.com).

Not sure why they no longer are shipping to their California location
in bulk, and from there to locations around the USA. Seems now they
are using direct post mail from HK.

I used to complain about them, and even had to call my credit card
company to reverse charrges to get those reinstated after I got my
order.

There is nothing better in terms of value and quality IMHO other than
Zenni. It seems they do not respond to Ira's attempts to get something
going with them - perhaps because they do not want any type of
representation involved. I would try to call Hong Kong via phone and
ask for Mr. Lam Yee Man phone 2 448 005 (more info on their HK address
posted at the thread dealing with shipping times).

Cheers!

By the way, Zenni's Express Mail was sent from Hong Kong on Jan 27,
arrived Jan 29 in the USA and was internally sent by Priority Mail to
be delivered on Jan 30 East Coast USA (with signature confirmation for
delivery). So Zenni actually paid more for shipping this package (107
Hong Kong dollars which is about US$14) than my US$4.95 shipping I was
charged for all the 6 pairs in the package!

Well done Zenni!

Wonder what has happened to their California office - which I thought
acted as a hub for internal USA shipping. Previous orderes came from
California.

There used to be an office in San Rafael, CA, near San Francisco.

Just to correct a few typos:

Zenni's phone number in Hong Kong, as was listed in my express mail
package from Hong Kong is: 2448 0051
Zenni's lab email I used is: zennilab at gmail.com (or
zenn...@gmail.com).

Re. the office in San Rafael, CA: I am from the east coast of the USA,
have never visited their CA office of course. Just called the 800
number. I assume this 800 number is still working. Perhaps they
decided to do direct shipping from Hong Kong after problems with the
US Customs getting a big lot of prescription glasses? This way it is
individually shipped to addresses directly. There is another vendor in
HK which also ships directly from HK to the USA I think

Cheers!

As another datapoint for Zenni mailing times, I ordered on January
5th, my glasses where shipped on Feb. 3rd via Hong Kong registered
mail. They were delivered on Feb 17th.

The glasses are fine. Quality is what I expected and prescription
seems right on.

Yet another Zenni datapoint.

Ordered 1/31, received 2/20. Took a little long I suppose, but I
anticipated that after reading all the reviews, plus the whole chinese
new year/lunar year thing. No biggie. I did email once during the
process to check when my order would be shipping (sent to the lab's
gmail address) and they got back to me within about a day and a half.
Very polite response, and accurate too.

Also, I don't think they were shipped directly from HK; I got my order
in a white bubble wrap envelope marked with Zenni's California
address. There were two plain white-ish glasses cases inside, the
glasses were wrapped in a microfiber cloth, and put into a baggie,
etc. I can do pictures if anyone wants me to.

Prescription seems fine...? I'm a brand new glasses wearer, so I
don't have much experience to go on here. Left eye seems perfect,
right eye "feels" a little strong -- but it's the same in both pairs
of glasses I ordered, so I imagine this is just me getting used to the
prescription more than anything else -- especially since my right eye
has spherical correction while my left eye is cylindrical only. I'll
wear them a few days and see how it goes, get them checked when I have
the chance, etc, etc.

Overall quality/build is good. They're on par with my mom's 250+
dollar glasses.

All in all, I'm pleased. I'm going to take some time to see how I
settle into this prescription and if I don't have to have anything
adjusted, I'll be ordering some sunglasses and another set of daily
frames from Zenni soon. Woohoo!

Just got my first pair from Zenni today, and they are back to shipping
from San Rafael via USPS.
Guess they vary from one to the other for some unknown reason.
All I know is I got my progressives in 16 days. Much better than the 3
to 4 weeks I was expecting after reading the posts here.

All is well?

I've sent a couple of emails that Zenni has failed to respond to for
days. Calling today multiple times, no one answered, no one was
available to take any calls, and the phone system told me the voice
mail box was full and couldn't take any more messages.

WHEN did you call?

I've had the most success at 9am (not 9:05) Pacific time.  You get right into the queue, and only have to hold a short time...unless you get extra lucky and call in first.

Couldn't agree more about their phone system, though...it DESPERATELY needs an upgrade.

Well I know they don't have the best things said about there timing
right now. And since I am having to wait a long time on my glasses
from Opticalchic.com I thought I would order from Zenni. I found a
pair I like alright. My sister in law just order them (2 weeks after
my order from opticalchic.com i might add.) Anyways she came over and
I got to try them on first. So for 25$ if thought I would get a pair
too. At this point I don't know what to expect of any of the sites. I
don't mind a little wait for the amount of money I am saving. So here
goes round too. About to place the order as soon as I hear if my
husband would like a pair too.

I ordered 2 pairs of bifocals and a pair of sunglasses on Feb 8. Zenni
told me that they had been shipped yesterday (23rd here in New Zealand)
and Hong Kong post had them at that stage, and later told me they had
left Hong Kong, New Zealand Post now tell me that they have received
them (at 3:51pm today) so with any luck they should be delivered on
Thursday (tomorrow if they get a real move on) Remember that I'm nearly
a day ahead of you guys.

I ended up getting into the phone systemlater in the day and responses
to emails after that.

Besides being a little slow to get back to me on email and messages
left on their web site, when I get through I've found them
professional and helpful. They have the best prices and are good on
returns, and their glasses don't seem much different than the $200-
$300 glasses. Nice for me, since I've gotten nearsighted, and want to
experiment with various prescriptions for distance, near, and maybe
bifocals.

(Though I was a little annoyed on being told that I needed to call
back the next day for a Request Authorization number after submitting
an order to process a return/replacement, because I wouldn't have the
order number until the email came. I was literally one click away from
finishing the order - I wanted them to confirm what I needed to put in
the notes of the order for the return - when I was told I may as well
hang up and call the next day. One click later, I had the order
number, but now no longer had a service representative on the line,
and had to get in the phone queue *again*.)

The glasses arrived yesterday (I'm working out of town during the
week). Optically great. Only complaint (and it's minor) is that none
of the frames I picked had sprung hinges, The man of the house has
98251 bifocals in silver. They had a long temple length that fits him
very well.

I have 33910 in brown with an 80% amber tint and 49781 as bifocals.

They all seem great and we are very happy. 2 1/2 weeks Hong Kong to New
Zealand.
