Anyone ordering might want to avoid this frame:
http://www.zennioptical.com/cart/product.php?productid=862&cat=0&page=1#largeimage

I heard a snap and the next thing I knew the lens was falling out of
the frame. I realize Zenni frames are not the same quality as the
frames I buy once a year from my local B&M (I know others disagree on
this subject, but I think the cheap on-line places have much lower
quality frames), but I would have expected the frame to last more than
6 months. These were my reading glasses and were never stressed,
dropped, etc. Yes, I'm only out $18.95 plus shipping, but I've never
had a pair of cheap sunglasses from the drug store do this!

That's a bummer. Note you can buy replacement frames from them for
almost nothing and have somebody local pop in the lenses.

Hm...That's not a very long life. And Irene is right; many online
frames are not as sturdy.

On the other hand, sometimes you have a frame that is normally robust,
but a glitch in the manufacturing process makes one pair have a
defect. I've worked in manufacturing enough to know that happens; a
thousand are made to specs, but someone's fake fingernail fell into a
vat, and the result was one with a hidden flaw.

I'd follow bhyde's advice and just order a new frame. Sure, you could
fight with Zenni and maybe get it for free, but for the ten bucks it's
hardly worth the effort.

I've actually found Zenni frames being sold on other sites. I bought
my daughter a pair of glasses from a shop for $55 and I got the exact
same frames (these are very unique so you would know right off the bat
they are the same)on Zenni's site for $26. There was a slight
difference in the finish of the frame..the paint on .her pair was more
matte, and mine had a more metallic finish (I liked mine better), and
there were different plastic ends on the temples. Also, the dimensions
of the frame were marked on her frame, but not on mine. It seems that
you could be getting a Zenni frame even if you purchase from another
site. Customer service told me that they wholeslae to B&M stores too.

I have actually found Zenni's lenses to be clearer than most other C39
or Poly carb lenses. However, what's up with their antireflective
coating? I ordered a pair of Prada look-alikes from Zenni and they are
more reflective with the coating!

Think about this..if you buy 3 $8 glasses in a year, you have still
only spend $39 (inclusing shipping). Where could you do that in a
local shop?

That's contrary to my experience with Zenni. I'm now three for three
with glasses that are every bit as good as the ones I used to pay
hundreds of dollars for.

Don't I know you from somewhere? They'll let anyone in here :)

I'm zero for one with Zenni. Ordered some titanium frames from them
and they took forever to arrive, this was a while back where I guess
they were having issues with customs. Wore them as a "dirty work"
pair of glasses for a couple months and one of the nosepieces fell
off. Found that the screw that holds them in is an odd thread that
one cannot find in a typical eyeglass repair kit, so they're now
useless :(

I should probably order another pair anyway though as that means that
now I have only one pair of glasses, plus the ones from Zenni that now
sit cockeyed on my face and try to rub a hole in my nose, so they
theoretically *could* be used in an emergency...

On the upside, the glasses were decent enough while they lasted,
although they were a little large for my face (but now I know what
size is "too big" so I'll just get something smaller.) I had to bend
the crap out of the temples and the little arms that hold the
nosepieces to get them to fit - they showed up bent at crazy angles.
I figured that would be the likely failure of the glasses - in fact I
expected to break them before I got them to fit, they were that far
out - but they handled some abusive adjustment just fine.

Zenni will provide replacement bits and pieces for free.

"If you’ve lost a nosepad or have loose or missing screws, we supply
those in reasonable quantity on a continuing basis, without charge, as
well as a tool to facilitate their replacement. You need to provide
the order number, and the frame number, when you request such service
parts so that we may verify the frame number and record the service
parts sent." -- http://www.zennioptical.com/cart/pages.php?pageid=18

Of course that demands that you kept the info they request; which is
why got me when a nice pair lost their nose widget after 3 years.

Hmm... have to see if I still have the order confirmation. I
actually liked the glasses, and the fact that they were a little big
for my face was actually a plus when, say, standing in front of a
bench grinder. thanks for the heads up.

Just a follow up: I actually did find my old order, so I emailed
Zenni and told them that i'd lost my nosepiece due to the screw
falling out. At the same time ordered another pair just because. Got
my more recent order earlier this week (about 3 weeks from when I
ordered it) and they included a little envelope with some new
nosepieces and screws for my old glasses in it. The new glasses were
also in much better shape than the old pair, although both are now
serviceable. So my more recent order was much more hassle free than
my first one (which took quite a long time to arrive) and can't fault
their customer service WRT the replacement bits. This is good as I
have lots of "dirty" work planned for the near future and don't really
want to hork up my expensive glasses.

I haven't actually worn the new pair yet as I haven't had enough free
time to adjust the temples and nose pieces properly, but I could see
through them fine just trying them on.
