Based on that, and after reading the many stories here, I decided to
take a chance. I got my prescription from my doctor, found some
frames that I liked, and placed an order at goggles4u. I went with
the glass lenses and the "transistion" type lenses.
Received an email after placing my order, and after 3-4 days I checked
the tracking and they were being shipped. Total time was about 2
weeks to my door. Packaging was decent, opened the box and the case,
got all the cotton away from the glasses and cleaned them with the
included cloth. Lenses and frames looked good, no blemishes or
scratches. Took my old glasses off, tried the new ones on, and
whoooooa.....this isn't good. Instant headache. Not even close to be
correct. Closing one eye and then switching, the right side appears
correct, the left side is horrible. I checked my prescription with
the receipt I had from the order, and my prescription was input
correctly. There was no documentation that came with the glasses, so
I have no idea what they were made to.
I have emailed them to find out what I need to do to get them fixed.
This is day 2 since I've sent the email. I'll give them a call later
today on their 800 number and see if anyone answers.
I'll update this when they get back to me. My total was only $33 or
so, but I'd still rather not flush $33 down the toilet. Defeats the
whole point of this process.

Anyways, i tried calling goggles4u. Their 1800 number is a FAKE, all
you get is a dialup modem sound on the other line. They haven't
replied to my 4 messages in 2 weeks. nor have they responded to 2 of
my messages sent through CCNow. I filed a complaint at BBB, but I'm
willing to bet that they're not going to respond. Just like you, I've
been SCAMED BY GOGGLES4U WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE CORRECT LENSES.
I have ordered an another pair from zenni's optical and I'll let you
know if this company is any better. However don't expect anything from
goggles4u.
The bigger issue is quality control. Having someone there who can
verify that the frames, prescription, PD and everything else is
correct would lead to so many fewer problems as to make customer
service (which is much more expensive -- long term), less necessary.
What kind of customer service do you get with Amazon? It totally sucks
-- trust me. Try to dig up a phone number with them.
I think you had a bit of misfortune, and have exposed an area that
Goggles4U is lacking in, but hundreds of others haven't had the
problems you have. I've been in contact with them and am trying to
appeal to them to shape up the customer service end.
As for the 800 number you claim is fake, I don't even see one listed
on the site -- only for fax (dialtone sound?), which is one of the
ways they handle customer service. Perhaps fax them a complaint?
I'm not making excuses for them, they've certainly messed up your
order, and I'd certainly not fault you for going elsewhere -- I would
too in a similar situation. That said, I'd still order from them as
this is an apparent anomaly.

I replied back asking this question, but I'll start selecting my two
frame styles. So I will give the credit for responding back to my
email. I'm doubting they'll get it right the second time and I'm
disappointed, but I'm still hoping that they'll get it right this
time. What's that old expression, "There's always time to get it
right the second time"?

"Dear Client,
This is to confirm that we have already shipped your replacement pair.
The glasses will be delivered to you in next few days. We have also
processed additional 30% discount (part of our compensation program)
due to inconvenience you faced due to our communication server
problem.
Please feel free to contact us for further assistance."
Interesting......
Since this was a new prescription, I'll take a pair of them to a local
eyeglass shop and have them check the prescription. My eye Dr. did
say my prescription had changed, but it was slightly weaker than my
old prescription. My current sunglasses that I wear are from 2
prescriptions ago, and I really cannot tell a difference between those
and the current non-tinted glasses that I'm wearing now, which are one
prescription old. They are all pretty close, with just minor
changes. I won't pass judgement until I find out what this are ground
to.

In retrospect, I should have canceled the appointment, but my dry eyes
didn't become a problem until the end of the day. Since having the
plugs inserted, I haven't had any problems with dry eyes, so I don't
foresee a problem in the future.
I'll post again when I have my next appointment, but I'm thinking that
Goggles 4 U did fine here.
I did take a pair of the glasses made by Goggles4U and they did say
they were made to the correct power in both eyes, so overall I'd say
my experience with Goggles4U was positive.
Next time I get a new prescription for glasses, I will get some
locally before I have some made from an internet vendor.
Now I need to decide if I want to try Goggles4U again. I'll probably
look on their website and see what they have available and go from
there.
