Hey all,

I bought from Eyebuydirect last Thursday (Nov. 5) and the order status
still shows as processing. I imagine they are processing a whole
bunch of orders at the moment, but just thought I'd ask if anyone else
has an order from around that time that's shipped. Anyone? :)

cheers,
Milo

I placed my order on Nov 2 and received them on Nov 9. These were
single vision. I am waiting on 2 orders: one placed on Nov 7 and the
other on Nov 9. All are single vision and both of these orders contain
sunglasses. Did you get yours yet?

Hey Susan,

Lucky you! I got an email today to the effect that mine shipped on
the 16th, so they obviously have been processing a lot of orders. :)
Hopefully next week sometime, they'll be in my hot little hands.

cheers,
Milo

Milo;

I got an email today too. My Nov 7th order was mailed out today, Nov
18th. The Nov 10th order still shows "processing".

my order from the 9th of november is still showing as 'well received'
and in 'processing'
:(

maybe tomorrow.....
(although to be fair one of the pairs is photochromic - so maybe this
takes longer?)

My order of four pair from November 10th also still says Processing.
I am really anxious for the new glasses.

Subsequently, I actually placed two orders on the 10th. One before I
realized I could get four glasses for the price of two. I used the
online chat to cancel my first order. When checking my account on the
website, it says "canceled," however I have yet to be refunded. I
emailed customer service and they said they would remove the charge.
I'll give them until Monday afternoon, if it still isn't off, I'll
give them a call. I'm sure they have A TON of orders they are trying
to get through.

Milo;

I received my Nov 7th order today, Nov 20th, and also received an
email that my Nov 10th order was mailed today. Any luck with your
order yet?

My order from November 8 is still processing. I ordered high index
lenses and my prescription is -8.25, so maybe that slows it down? Of
course, it's probably just the sale.

The charge for my canceled order has been refunded, but my order from
November 10 still says "Processing."

I ordered 4 pair with standard lenses. Hopefully they'll be shipped
soon.

I just got the email saying that my glasses ordered November 10 have
shipped. Hopefully I'll get them on Friday or Saturday. I'm so
excited!

Laura - your prescription is similar to mine. Let me know what you
think of your high index lenses from Eyebuydirect when you get them.
Have you ever ordered from them before?

I was getting antsy about my order - so I got someone online - and
they told me my order from November 8th shipped today : november
25th.

on the website they state that people in canada should receive within
14 business days. Tomorrow is the 14th business day.

I guess they were a bit backlogged with the 241 sale....

ah well - still excited to try on my new glasses.

Sure - I'm trying to keep track of all of the details so I can post a
useful review. This is my first attempt at ordering glasses online.
I ordered from a few companies to try and compare the lenses and
quality. When I first ordered, I didn't have a good grasp on the
importance of glasses width and it's relation to the coke bottle
effect. I'm reasonably sure that two pairs I got from Eyebuydirect
will be too wide. One I ordered with the 1.74 high index lenses and
the rest were 1.67 high index. I tried computing the thickness of the
lenses and often the difference was less than 1 mm. That difference
wasn't enough to justify the big price increase for the 1.74 lenses at
eyebuydirect. However, Goggles4U has 1.71 high index glass lenses
that are much less. The glasses I ordered from Goggles4U came to $55
versus the $119 (with free frames) from Eyebuydirect for the 1.74.
I'll let you know what I find. Sadly, most of the glasses I ordered
will arrive while I'm away for the holiday.

Hey Laura, I got my glasses from Eyebuy direct about 3 or so weeks
ago, and as I wrote in another thread, I really liked the frames but
sort of hated the lenses. I ordered the 1.74 high index ones and I
suppose I was like you, I didnt know the way the frame width would
effect the lens thickness. My frames are 52 mm wide, and the widest I
have in my older glasses is 50mm. I guess that makes a bigger
difference than I thought in my prescription. But as I said also in
another post, there is more than just the lens thickness that I dont
like about the lenses that eyebuydirect used for my glasses. For one
thing they look very coke bottle like even from head on. They also
have a tinted look and bottom line I just dont see as well through
them somehow even though I do think the prescription is right. I have
sort of given up wearing them and still wearing my old ones that are
stretched out and considering contacting eyebuydirect about them, even
though I dont have anything really concrete besides the thick look to
complain about. I have had a similar sort of thing happen at a store
a few years ago, and thier response was that I have a very strong
prescription and "live with it" basically. That was easier when I
could wear contacts 90% of the time.

so.....

my order was placed november 8th - and they arrived on november 30th.
I live in Canada.

as for the glasses themselves......

I agree with the above poster - they are noticeably thicker than other
glasses i have that were supposed to be of a similar index, and this
lends to a 'coke bottle' lens appearance.

I will also need to have adjustments done with both frames - one frame
was noticeably crooked on arrival. I'm not sure if the entire frame is
twisted, or if its just one of the temples. I"ll get them adjusted
tomorrow, but if they still sit all askew on my face i'll probably
send'em back.

my lenses also have a wierd tinted look to them. Theres some wierd
reflective tint appearance. i don't know if this is due to their anti-
reflective process.

other than that I am happy with the overall quality of the frames.
while they are of less quality than the frames i have had from the
optometrist - they are also less than 1/4 the cost!!

i would give eyebuydirect a B- right now. (would have been a solid 'B'
but on their website they say it should arrive to me in less than 14
business days - and it took 16).

I received my four pair of plastic framed glasses on Black Friday.

Like you, silenthunder, three of my pairs are crooked. The right
temple arm is fine, but the left temple arm opens too far (past 90
degrees, if that makes sense). Because of this, the glasses don't
stay up on my nose when I bend my head forward. One one of these
pairs, I took a screw driver and tightened the temple screws, so that
helps to keep the temple arms closer 90 degrees. However, by doing
this, when you look at my profile view, there is open space between
the temple and the main part of the frame (not sure if I'm explaining
that clearly either).

I know eyebuydirect.com has a great return policy, but I only paid
$25.80 total (with shipping) for four pairs of glasses. It isn't
worth the shipping to send back the glasses, and I can live with the
little open space.

As far as "coke bottle" looking lenses, I was honestly expecting some
if that. My prescription is -5.25 0.32 in one eye and -6.5 in the
other. I bought the standard 1.5 index lenses, and I figured the
plastic frames would cover some of the thickness. The prescription
seems great, and the lenses are clear.

Overall, I'm a satisfied customer. Yet, I wonder if the reason these
frames were on sale (Glassyeyes Anniversary $7.95 special) is because
they were already crooked, or if they are crooked because of the way
eyebuydirect constructs the glasses, or because of the way they were
shipped. It makes me a little wary to order more expensive frames
from them in the future.

I ordered some very simple cheap glasses on Nov 20th, so after the
sale. They arrived today, so 13 days including the holiday. I live
in New England. No complaints.

I thought I posted this already (apologies if it shows up twice now!)

one of my pairs has to go back - bent on arrival (and the frame has
'memory' so can't be adjusted)

had a headache two days with the other pair. checked the prescription
- was off my more than 5 degrees on the axis on one eye.

when i contacted eyebuydirect about this online, the person said it
was a problem with my optometrists lensmeter, and that their lab had
the right prescription, so its not their fault!!!!

huh?! well they eventually agreed to do the return anyways - since
they have the policy that they do one return no matter what. but the
person online said that if this happens again then I'm not gonna be
able to return again. (this doesn't sit well with me)

so i shipped them. then i tried to get someone online. couldn't. sent
an email

two days later - still no response via email. decided to sit online
and keep renewing the chat box until i get someone (their chat request
automatically goes to email after a minute or so).

the person online said she could do a replacement for both. just to
give her the frames and the Rx.

One of the frames I wanted is out of stock. they won't let me wait
until its back in stock again. I would pick another frame - but they
have NO other rimless frames that fit my head (i need at least a 137
frame width).

I'm also inclined to pick a different frame than the one that is bent,
since they will only replace it once, and i don't wanna chance getting
another bent frame and being stuck with it.

I'm feeling like they are forcing me to take a refund.

I want to get replacements because I used the 241 discount. I also
want replacements because I feel like I'm 35 bucks out of pocket
(shipping) already and I wanna see this thing through.

I'm revising the 'B-' grade I gave them above.

I'm now giving them a 'C'.

not replying to emails is not good. Lack of selection in large frames
is not good for me either (this is how I am being forced into a
refund). Not delivering within your own shipping guidelines (they told
me within 14 business days - it took 16; this is 22 calendar days
versus 18 days estimated) not good.

Two pairs of glasses with quality issues. Very Bad.

with their 241 pricing my two pairs of glasses came to 160 (one pair
was photochromic; both pairs had 1.59 index). this price seems like
its in the middle range for online ordering. For the price I'm paying
I expect better quality control.

maybe one of these things on its own is not bad. but the combination
of all of them is something that would make me wanna go with someone
else next time.

I'm still waiting for my order from November 12th. There was an out of
stock "stop" on the order for a day until I picked a new frame and
then I was promised 14 business day service. I'm helping my dad order
some glasses online (his first online glasses purchase) and I
recommended EBD as a 'premiere' provider of service. I hadn't had a
problem with the pairs I ordered in the past. I'm not sure if it's
something I did wrong, but the package claims to have been mailed last
Friday, the 4th, and 8 days later it's still not here. Customer
service has been perfunctory at best. My dad has been patient, so I
hope the glasses are correct or I'll have lost him back to the $400/
pr. boutique shops.

whooooahh.

dude I feel pretty bad for you.

considering that they state their shipping is usually about 2 weeks
they are pretty far off with your order.

and the ongoing customer service issues are not helping with these
issues. I'm sure you have seen the response from EBD to Ira's inquiry.
but it hardly gives me confidence in them

I'm asking them for a refund now. I originally wanted new glasses from
them after returning the 2 defective pairs they sent me - but their
selection gets worse every day, and the last time I chatted with
someone she told me not to expect them getting new stock for 2-3
months.

Thanks for the sympathy. I contacted them a couple of days ago to
follow up on the status change from Shipped back to Processing. They
said that, since the order was picked up from the on December 4th, I
should have received them last week. (on this point, I guess, we both
agree) The customer service agent said she would put a USPS Package
Trace on the order and, at the same time, send the order to the lab to
re-process the glasses. When I asked when I would hear the results of
the package trace, I was told it would be by the end of the same day.
Naturally, I've heard nothing yet. The status of the order is still
"Processing" and I can't get hold of anyone out there to follow up. I
asked if I'd see any glasses by the end of the calendar year and was
told, "definitely".

If I hadn't successfully placed an order with them previously, I would
think this was all an elaborate scam. I saw the response from EBD in
the other thread and the other person's BBB complaint report. I hope
that's not what it takes to straighten this out.

In fairness, 14 business days from date of order would have been Dec.
2nd. One of the frames I chose was out of stock, and that didn't get
resolved until a few days later, so the Dec. 4th ship date is actually
pretty close to being in line with their promises. It's also possible
that, at this time of year, packages get lost in the seasonal rush.
Nevertheless, I'm getting impatient and tired of not being able to get
hold of anyone who can tell me definitively what's happening.

just managed to get my refund (less shipping).

for anyone following this - the online chat person seemed to indicate
that EBD will be offering their 241 discount every monday (she didn't
seem to indicate they would be stopping anytime soon)

i think this renders the 15% discount on the glassyeyes site kind of
moot.....

i'm gonna try a couple zenni pairs next. possibly much worse customer
service, but at their price it's what i would expect.

Cheers,

I've ordered 5 pairs from Zenni with no issues. The glasses arrived,
in every case, on the 20th or 21st day. There was never any reason to
contact them for service.

Late to the party with my update. It was a Christmas miracle! My dad's
glasses (the replacements which were rushed to the lab after the first
order was lost) arrived on Christmas Eve day in the mail. The glasses
looked great and work very well for him, both the bifocal daily wear
and the single vision sunglasses. 30 business days from start to
finish, but I got to use the special GlassyEyes discounts which made
dad pretty happy.
