I purchased a pair of rimless glasses from Global Eyeglasses. The
lenses seem to be correct for my prescription when looking through the
center. When I am looking through a point on the lens not exactly at
the center, the image appears compressed. This effect is most
pronounced at the edges.

I have previously ordered glasses with this prescription and PD
measurement from another online store which were fine.

The only thing that is somewhat strange about these lenses is that the
front side is completely flat. Every other pair of glasses I have
owned had lenses that curved on both the front and back sides.

What could cause this effect? Lenses slightly off in prescription or
cut to wrong PD measurement? Should I take them to an optician to
have the prescription measured? Could the lenses need to be mounted
at a different angle relative to each other (i.e., bridge bent
slightly)?

Thanks!

Do you get the same results when you close one eye and look through
only one lens? How strong is your prescription?

The rimless glasses I got from Zenni had lenses with flat fronts.

Is it possible that these are Trivex lenses?

I'm not an expert, but I think your flatter lenses have a lower base
curve. Some people are more sensitive to variations in base curve
than others. I've also heard it can be more of an issue for people
with higher prescriptions. If you search the forums for 'base curve,'
there's a good amount of info on this subject.

I had a similar experience with a pair of glasses I bought from
Firmoo. The short answer seems to be that different brands of lenses
handle different prescriptions differently.

If the Global lenses have bad distortion, try ordering from a
different company next time and see if the lenses have less
distortion.

Thanks for the replies.

It occurs with one eye closed. My prescription is -3.25 with -0.25
astigmatism in one eye.

Lens option was the "Super Thin 1.61 Lenses." I can't find any
information on the lens material. Is there a reason Trivex could
cause this problem?

Base curve looks like the search term I needed to find out more about
the flat lens front. Seems that could explain the distortion and why
I'm having trouble adjusting.

Also, the total width of the frames and the height of the lenses did
not match the measurements on the product page. If the width was what
it was supposed to be then I don't think it would bother me as much
since the distortion is worst at the outer edges. But like this I
feel disoriented whenever I turn my head and get a headache when I
wear them for more than a few minutes.

Still waiting to hear back from them. Called and they said they would
have to call back so I emailed instead. Their response was that they
would call the next day but they did not.

Since the width of the frame is different that what they advertised,
at least you have a reason to get a full refund if they keep avoiding
you. The unfortunate truth is that in internet businesses, like
normal businesses, some have good customer service, some don't.
Unfortunately internet businesses, since they don't see their
customers face to face, are more prone to this though there are
definitely good internet businesses that actually care.
