I bought two pairs of the same frames in white and black from
Glassesshop. The white pair is fine, but when I put on the black pair,
there's a noticeable blur, and it feels difficult to focus my eyes,
resulting in dizziness. I emailed Glassesshop and they responded:

Sorry for that, we will check the procession to figure out the
problem. If we find out the problem, and we send you a pair of new
lenses, can you go to somewhere or some store to remove the bad one
and install the new one?

My question is, will any shop actually do this? Remove the lenses from
a pair of frames you didn't buy from them, and put in new ones? I'm
curious if anyone else had this problem, and how they dealt with it.
If I could I'd just quick buy the glasses again from Glassesshop, and
then return these ones, because I'm going overseas in two weeks and
wanted these damn glasses. However, the black color sold out right
after I bought it - I think I got the last pair. Argh!

The last email response I got from them was on the 13th. I'm starting
to get frustrated.

Now I'm curious how other people's experience with Glassesshop's
customer service was. :(

Most of them ask you send the glasses back to them and they fix it,
not just send you lenses. I've never heard of such a thing.

I'd consider contesting the charge if they aren't willing to remake
the glasses for you.

They probably put the optical centers in the wrong place, installed
the lens wrong in an oval or circular frame, or screwed up the
astigmatism or progressive correction.

It is possible to install your own lenses, even in plastic frames,
though most people don't want the hassle of this kind of do-it-
yourself. With metal frames, you need jewelers screwdrivers. Half
decent jeweler sets don't cost too much. With plastic frames, I found
that holding them under the hot water tap will expand the frame enough
to allow you to pop out the lens. Then install the new lens while the
water is running over the frame. You should be able to replace the
lens with a reasonably moderate amount of force. (I think they use hot
beads or sand in the optical lab.)

Most frames are asymmetrical enough to make the lens alignment
obvious. With circular and oval frames, there's more than one angle
the lens can have and fit into the frame, but usually only one correct
angle.

Get this: the replacement lenses they sent me are wrong too! I
received them yesterday and took them to my optometrist today so that
he could remove the incorrect ones and replace them with the new ones.
But when he checked them, he told me they both had the same problem -
the prescription I entered was flipped on BOTH sets of lenses. They
flipped the numbers I entered for O.D. Spherical and O.S. Spherical.
I triple-checked the prescription I entered in my order, and it's
correct. No errors were made on my end. I am NOT happy. I wanted to
take these glasses with me when I go to study abroad in a week. How
could they make the same mistake twice? I just sent an email asking
for a refund. I'll let you know what happens.

Not sure I'll be buying from them again.

Just got an email saying they will only refund me once I ship them
back the incorrect lenses (apparently on my own dime?). Seeing as both
sets of lenses are wrong, I'm not even sure which ones they want. This
is ridiculous. I left the lenses and frames with my eye doctor, as
he's going to play around with them and see if it would be possible to
flip the lenses back the correct way (as they mixed my O.D. and O.S.
spherical). He didn't think he would be able to, but said he'd
experiment. I am not paying money to get a refund.

Not sure what I'll do at this point.

This is just getting more priceless by the moment. My jaw hit the
floor when I saw their latest email. Here's the offer:

"How about we refunding you $4.95 for the cost of the lenses.
And you keep the glasses."

Oh boy! I get to keep a pair of useless glasses they messed up on
TWICE, AND a $4.95 refund!

I have little faith in this company anymore. Their customer service is
absurd.

I think you should get a full refund on the glasses. You can always
tell them you want a refund, ship them back and if they don't give you
a refund, you can contest it on your credit card. That may be the
only way to get anything back.

I've bought online glasses from 39dollarglasses.com, eyebuydirect.com,
and glassesusa.com and have had pretty good experiences with all of
them. One of those companies might be better to deal with than this
company.

Just to keep you updated, I declined their offer with the following
message on August 24: "A pair of glasses I can not wear is of no use
to me. The prescription is incorrect and therefore I can not use the
glasses. It could be dangerous for my eyesight, and I can not focus my
eyes while they are on. I would either like them fixed, or a refund
for the lenses and the frames."

So far, I haven't heard anything from them. I'll wait a few more days,
but then I might open a Paypal dispute.
