Glasgow Residents Network event, aimed at raising the profile of
residents concerns in the run-up to the elections.
This month's bulletin is still open of course to submissions of local
events and meetings and will be going out shortly, so send us your

The Future of Glasgow's Communities
Do you want to highlight an issue going on in your community? Do you
feel what passes for a political debate never talks about your
community's problems and concerns? Here's your chance to raise your
issues for once in a high profile public debate!

The Glasgow Residents' Network and the Scottish Tenants' Organisation
Present for one night only:-
A Public Debate on, The Future of Glasgow's Communities, Tuesday 24th
April 2007, at 7.15pm for 7.30pm, at the Quality Hotel (previously AKA
The Central Hotel), 99 Gordon Street, Glasgow G1 3SF [Inside Central
Station].
* Do you believe casino 'regeneration' is real and for you?
* Do you believe your community is safe in the hands of ...x....?
* Do you believe the hype that housing associations hold the key to
the housing crisis?
* Do want to sell off local parks and amenities for housing?
* Are tenants being treated fairly by landlords?
* Are you facing large bills from your factor?
* Does planning take into account the wishes of the local community?
* Do you feel safe in your community?
* Do you want to see an end to dawn raids?
* Are you concerned about the lack of facilities for young people?

This is our chance to put politicians on the spot! We're going to have
a number of active community campaigns and residents associations
present at the event to set the scene by talking about their
communities and issues, many of which are being ignored by government.

Bill Aitkin (Conservative), Robert Brown (Lib Dem), Patrick Harvie
(Greens), Frank McAveety (Labour, TBC), Jim McVicar (SSP), Tommy
Sheridan (Solidarity), Sandra White (SNP) plus independent candidates.

Glasgow residents to quiz candidates on The Future of Glasgow's
Communities.

* The Glasgow Residents Network is a coalition of around a dozen
residents associations formed following a tenants and homeowners
networking conference last year. It brings together homeowners
factored by the GHA with tenants of both the GHA, other housing
associations and those in private accommodation throughout the city.
* The Future of Glasgow's Communities event is to take place at 7:30pm
on Tuesday 24th April 2007, at the Quality Hotel (previously AKA The

Glasgow residents to quiz candidates on the future of Glasgow's
Communities.
Concerned residents groups from all over Glasgow will be coming
together next Tuesday to find out what the different parties have to
say and quiz them on their plans for Glasgow's communities.
The event aims to draw attention to community issues which have been
raised over the past few months in the run up to the election, from
housing issues, to the sell-off of green spaces
Alison Young of the resident's network says "It's important that the
issues that actually make a difference to our communities are
highlighted. Things like green spaces, hospital and school closures,
the ongoing housing crisis and lack of facilities for young people. We
need to have an ongoing debate about exactly which direction Glasgow
is heading in."
